LEGO ‘Star Wars’: Expand Your Midi Scale Fleet With These Six Cool MOCs
We all love the LEGO midi scale ships; here are some great ways to expand your collection by making the sets into 2-in-1 builds.
LEGO Star Wars is a great range that allows you to recreate classic ships from the Evil Empire, the Heroic Rebels, and more. One of the cooler “sub” lines they have in LEGO Star Wars is the so-called mid-scale ships. I’ve talked these up before for just how cool they are. They are a really great way of getting some of the big epic ships without having to spend the money and space on a massive model. They are also great for dioramas and the like.
Now LEGO is putting out more of these ships—we just got two more—but there are only a limited number. You can really only get a couple of them, and while cool, that does limit your options. But what if it didn’t have to be that way? Well, an excellent MOC designer by the name of CreationCaravan (Brad Barber) has the answer! He’s figured out how to rebuild the existing midi kits into a whole host of other ships.
While he’s not the only person to do this, I do really like his LEGO midi scale MOCs. They all look great. So today, I want to showcase a few that I think are his best. These are great because they let you repurpose your midi ships into something else and make it easy to get all the parts if you want to build several. They are also super inventive, as they use the limited parts from each kit. I hope you enjoy them!
#6 – Star Destroyer (Millennium Falcon)
First, we’ve got a pretty cool rebuild of the Millennium Falcon midi kit. This one rebuilds it into a classic Star Destroyer. While the Midi line does have a Super Star Destroyer and an Acclimator Class Star Destroyer, it lacks the classic Imperial Class. I think this build does a pretty good job of creating that and is a great addition to a collection.

#5 – The Malevolence (Invisible Hand)
Here’s one that’s kind of out there. We’ve got a cool build of The Malevolence from the LEGO midi scale Invisible Hand kit. This one looks really good to me. It’s obviously a smart move to use the IH kit, as it shares many colors and design language with the Big M. I think it’s a really cool build, and The Malevolence isn’t a ship you see show up much, so it’s always great to see it get some love.

#4 – Fondor Haulcraft (Millennium Falcon)
Speaking of ships you don’t see show up much, we’ve got Luthen’s Fondor Haulcraft from Andor. This is another Falcon alternate build, and Brad’s got a lot of those. It just shows how versatile that kit is. As to the Haulcraft… this might be one of my favorite builds. This thing looks sooooo good. We may never get an official LEGO kit for the Haulcraft, but this one might just tide you over.

#3 – Pelta Class Frigate (Tantive IV)
It’s not all Falcon builds here, we’ve also got a great alternate build for the Tantive IV LEGO midi scale kit. This transforms it into the classic Pelta Class Frigate used during the Clone Wars and by the Rebel Alliance.
Again I think this is really great build that’s managed to do the Pelta justice. The Tantive IV has the right colors and even the detailed sticker plates work really well to give the ship depth. This really does look like it could be official set. And yes, the “wings” do close.

#2 – The Supremacy (Super Star Destroyer)
Are you a fan of the sequels? Well, here is a build for you. This one transforms the Executor into Snoke’s flagship, the massive Supremacy. It’s a pretty cool alt build, and I really like how the designer kept the idea of smaller Star Destroyers flying escort. He even made them smaller to show off just how big the Supremacy is.
Of course, Imperial ships are pretty easy to transform into First Order ones as they share many details. But this is a pretty inventive build as the Supremacy differs greatly from your standard Imperial ship.

#1 – Hammerhead Corvette (Millennium Falcon)
Lastly, we’ve got another Falcon alt build (you might need about 10 Falcon kits at this point). This one is pretty surprising as it rebuilds the Falcon into a Hammerhead Corvette. But you know what? It really works.
The same designer actually has a Hammheard made from the Tantive IV kit as well, and I think, surprisingly, the Falcon-based version is better. It’s really got the right look and colors. There are a few spots, I think, where the limitations of the parts show up a bit. But overall, I think it really works. I especially like how they were able to reuse the round printed/sticker parts on the Falcon to great effect here.
