Marvel: Crisis Protocol – ‘War Of Kings’ Is Heating Up
Atomic Mass Games showed off some of the cards from the upcoming War of Kings Crisis Card Pack. Marvel: Crisis Protocol is about to get cosmic.
There’s a new Character and Crisis Card Pack coming to MCP in March. This one not only brings Gladiator to the game but it also adds in a new set of Crisis Cards for 2025!
Well, over on Facebook AMG dropped some teasers from the box so let’s see what we can see…
War of Kings – New Crisis Cards
So first up, we really only get one clear look at one of the Secure missions. “Guardians Save Shi’ar Empress in Style” has a pretty straightforward setup with four secure tokens. It’s worth noting the text on the card indicates that if your characters are holding an extract token you also get 1 reroll to see if you control these security terminal tokens. With MCP being an objective based game, this is a neat way to incorporate some token interactions.
Aside from that we only get a few glimpses of the other cards. And you could probably piece together some of the rules, personally, I’m just excited to get new missions.
It’s also worth noting that this pack is going to introduce a new format to play with these particular missions. They function like a campaign where you can pair specific cards together to tell a narrative that mimics the War of Kings storyline from the comics. I’m VERY interested to see this in action and want to see more info about how these pairings work together.
Enter The Gladiator
I’m also excited about seeing Gladiator’s Team Tactic Cards and the new miniature in more detail. It does look like he’s got a custom base, too. I’m curious to know if he’s got any particular role in the War of Kings other than just as a character that you can use. For example, I wonder if there’s any missions where he shows up as basically an NPC that interacts with your teams in some way — sort of like an Ultimate Encounter.
Anyhow, the good news is we know the product release date is March 14, 2025 and it’s currently up for Pre-Order right now.
Also, if you’re wondering what the heck the War of Kings is then you might want to check out the comics the event is based on. The event itself revolves around a conflict between the Shi’ar Empire and the Inhuman-led Kree. There’s actually quite a few other characters involved with the events and it takes place off Earth. So this is very much a space adventure and that’s part of the fun!
