Space Marine 2: Roadmap Update & More Changes Coming
Focus has shown off some up coming changes heading to Space Marine 2 in February. It’s a good time to be a Space Marine 2 fan!
I can’t believe Space Marine 2 has been out for four months already. It’s been a blast slaying out with buddies in this game. The cosmetic packs have been great and, while it can be grindy at times, it’s still quite doable to get progress in the post-campaign landscape. But let’s get to the real reason you’re here: The new Roadmap and other announcements!
In a massive blog post, we get a ton of info on what to expect with the upcoming Season 3 – Winter update. It’s a big one kicking off with patch 6.0. Before we get into that, it’s also worth noting that just because it’s not listed things like technical support or other fixes are still coming. There’s also a plan for content once the end of the road map is reached…but that’s for later.
New PvP Map – Tomb
The first big news is a new Necron Tomb-themed map coming to PvP. Get ready for some close quarter combat in these narrow passages. It’s time for your chainswords to shine (or rev-up, maybe)!
New Enemy – Tyranid Biovore
For all you PvE fans, there’s another challenge coming to square off with you: The Biovore! Now, I’m pretty sure this was revealed earlier…but still, this is good news as it’s yet another enemy to smash!
“It’s an Extremis enemy, a dreadful foe both in distance and melee combat. Beware of the Spore Mines it shoots.”
I’m kind of glad it’s not a Pyrovore to be honest…closing the gap on one of those would be painful.
New Salamanders Champion Reveals
There’s not much else to say about this one that the teaser images don’t already say. It’s a blinged-out Sniper that would make Vulkan proud!
Raven Guard Bring The Beaky Helmets
The Raven Guard chapter is also joining the fight. Quite appropriately, they are also bringing the MK VI “Corvus” helmet as part of their cosmetic pack.
It’s also worth noting that the helmet comes with two versions — one with and one without the Raven Guard emblem. Man, it’s like the art team/devs know exactly what they are doing with these cosmetics or something!
More Updates Ahead
Space Marine 2 has a ton more updates on the way as well. The Data Vault is coming to the Battle Barge. This new area will have unlockable information as well as cosmetic rewards for completing new challenges called Ordeals. These Ordeals will be in all modes as well.
There’s also a Perk rework coming to the game as well. They were light on the details for this one but they are going to be listening for feedback once those drop as well.
For PC players, there’s going to be a new FOV Slider. This will be introduced in v6.0 and it looks fantastic! In the blog post, you can see various examples for different screen sizes. If you prefer a more “zoomed out” look that’s exactly what these FOV sliders are for.
Also coming is a new Tech-Priest to chat with. They will allow you to trade in your Armoury Data for upgrades or you can sell it for more Requisition Points.
There will be some new finisher animations for Zoanthropes, Scarab Occult Terminators and Rubric Marines. So keep an eye out for those. Additionally, there’s Emotes, Base Decals for the Right Pauldrons, another difficulty mode and reward, and so much more.
If you’ve been play Space Marine 2 these should all be welcomed changes. And if you haven’t been, well, now is a great time to join the fight! It’s been a great game to play with friends for sure.
February is going to be a BUSY time for Space Marine 2!
