Warhammer 40K: Slaanesh Chariots Are HOTTER Than You Think

Goatboy here to let you know the Slaanesh Daemon Chariots re looking even hotter than normal these days – if you know what I mean!

At 2025 begins, let’s think about the upcoming new season of Warhammer 40k.  Grotmas brought a ton of sweet new presents and one of the more interesting updates is of course the Slaanesh Daemon detachment, Legion of Excess.  A lot of things get interesting when they can reroll the hit and wound rolls to try and activate some critical hits.  Heck it is a pretty nutty little ability especially since Slaanesh units enjoy being in combat and can normally survive most things punching into them for the first turn.  The units I think that might get a serious glow up are the three different chariot variants that seem to really get a chance to do a ton of damage if left to their own devices.

First there are three different Chariot types.  You have the regular Seeker Chariot and the Exalted Seeker Chariot.  One is the basic one and the others the upgraded Chariot version.  The final one is the weird Hellflayer version which is an odd one and might not be worth it but hey it is a Chariot and we should think about it.  All of them are set up with a ton of Extra Attacks, regular attacks, and then a plethora of Devastating wounds.  You mix all of this on a somewhat tough body with usually 7+ wounds, toughness 6, and a 4+ invulnerable save.  The 4+ save is important as most of the time the army can have waves of 5+ saves so just being a bit tougher, faster, and deadlier will mean these things can easily activate the ability to reroll hits and wounds when they charge in.

Slaanesh Exalted Seeker Chariot

Let’s start with the Exalted Seeker Chariot.  This model moves 14″, has 12 wounds, and a toughness of 6.  It has a 4+ invulnerable save like the other options.  It comes with a Ranged Weapon that is a 6″ whip that is Assault, Anti-Infantry 3+, and a pistol.  It has no AP so it isn’t really anything interesting other than it can throw out some wounds if it is stuck in combat.  It really shines in how many attacks it comes with 8 extra Seeker Tongue attacks that are strength 4, damage 1, AP 0, and Lethal.  It then also has 14 Strength 4, Damage 1, AP -1, and Devastating wound attacks.  That is a huge pile of damage it can do if it gets there and rerolls everything.  You get all of this on a cheap 115 point body as well.

Slaanesh Seeker Chariot

I do think the Seeker Chariot might be better as while it has less everything that Exalted version has – they do come in units of 2.  This is huge as they also get a special charge power that if they make the charge all melee weapons equipped by the models in the unit gain Anti-Infantry 4+.  This means those 9 Slashing Claw attacks that are Devastating are going to do some cray damage into anything infantry.  You mix two of these in a “unit” and the are going to come in hard, hit with 18 Devastating reroll to hit and wound attacks that will just pile on those wounds into a unit.  All on top of being a 2 7 wound models that are not super easy to just make go away.

Slaanesh Hellflayer

The final one is the Hellflayer which like the Seeker Chariot has the same stat profile with the same amount of devastating wounds, seeker tongues, and it then piles on an extra Bladed Axle attack that is extra 6 attacks that are Strength 6, Ap -1, and Damage 2.  It is a much more expensive body but you can take two in a unit and cause some problems for an army with a ton of “ovals” running around the field being creepy.  Their extra ability is to select a target within engagement range and roll a d6.  You add 2 if the target is infantry.  On a 2-3 they suffer d3 mortal wounds, on a 4-5 it is 3 mortal wounds and on a 6+ it is d3+3 mortal wounds.  That could be pretty spicy if you get some guys mixed in.

All of this is an interesting unit to think about especially as the months move on and you have friends asking if you have any Fiends or Chariots they can borrow.  Slaanesh got a very nice update this time around and I think will see a lot of these Chaos Daemons armies show up especially with the cheap cost of the Keeper of Secrets and all their friends.  Any army that moves fast and puts pressure on the opponent can easily win games by just controlling the score and thus the narrative of who wins and loses.

All hail the Dark Prince!
