Kill Team has gotten a massive balance pass today. The good news is that the changes are geared at making the game more balanced and they are all in Kill Team App as well. The bad news? Well, you’ve got a lot to download and read if you’re wanting to be on top of your game!

Kill Team performance has been in a great state overall since the start of the new edition – with eight different factions placing in the top 10 at the Las Vegas Open – and today’s updates look to close the gap between top and bottom even further.
The Kill Team app has also been updated with all the info, as well as a new tournament companion that outlines guidance for event play, and provides a full list of classified teams. There’s also a user guide to help you navigate the full range of functions.
Kill Team Balance Update
While there have been loads of minor tweaks GW did want to touch on a few specific ones that were called out. The biggest change is probably the update to Counteracting. It has been toned down a bit as GW noted it was too effective at giving elite Kill Teams “too much board control for free.” It’s ability to provide some extra movement beyond the normal limits was also a factor in changing it.
Aside from that, there were some more targeted changes to specific Kill Teams as well. Most notably, there were some nerfs to the Warpcoven and the Legionaries. These two Chaos Kill Teams were more consistent and effective that GW wanted. But it wasn’t all bad. Some of the weaker Kill Teams got brought up a bit. The notable ones included the Vespid Stingwings, Imperial Navy Breachers, Hunter Clade, and the Gellerpox Infected.
You’ll want to download those updates and give them a read. That goes double if you’re actually running any of these Kill Teams. Personally, I’d start with the Core Rules and Universal Equipment downloads. And then go to which ever Kill Team I’m playing currently.
I’m also glad to see GW taking a proactive approach to Kill Team. This is great for the new edition and I hope they continue to keep an eye on the overall balance of this game.
Are you glad to see the changes for Kill Team?
