These LEGO Staff Picks span from the classic castle and prop plane to a favorite Muppet and a very silly walk.

Old Flying Club & Hangar

Take to the skies with this 1930s-inspired prop plane and hanger, which uses new building techniques. The set, created by 10K club member ABStract_brick2, has over 2000 pieces and includes five minifigs. The hanger has a removable roof, doors that open and close, a mechanic’s workbench, and a desk where pilots can plot routes. The single-engine aerobatic airplane seats two and has a spinning propeller. This would be the first aviation hanger set aimed at adult builders.

LEGO The Settlers of Catan

Build the classic board game in bricks, and then play with this set by Master_Brickz. A great deal of care has been put into making the build as close to the game as possible. This LEGO staff pick includes four colors for the settlement, cities, and roads: orange, blue, white, and red. The game also includes a robber and a red and a yellow die. The board even splits into six sections to make it easy to add expansions.

Monty Python – Ministry of Silly Walks

This proposed set from Packatrix brings one of Monty Python’s most iconic sketches to life. Mr. Teabag, carrying his briefcase, is caught mid-stride on his way to the Ministry of Silly Walks. The build has some posability, so you can create your own silly walk. It also includes technic pieces to keep its one-legged stance stable. As a Python fan, this is my favorite LEGO staff pick of the bunch.

Lost

J_hrvth‘s set focuses on the first season. It’s approximately 1200 pieces and includes three minifigures. This LEGO staff pick is a great pick for fans.

My main focus was to put the Hatch in the middle of the diorama; it always raised the never-ending question – what it is, why it is there, how they can get in, and so on. The story happened on an island, so the greenery was always present, and the atmosphere of the jungle always took our breath away. The Beechcraft was a returning element of the show; it was often in the highlights, so it is mandatory to have it to create the overall picture.

Many Easter eggs are scattered around, like a handcuff, a briefcase, a letter, small statues, pneumatic tubes, etc. The rest are for you to find. Two main characters should complete the whole set; Jack and Locke are in there, too.

Wolf’s Gate

ChillyOrange081 hopes their design is added to LEGO’s long history of castle sets. This build as two interiors which can be accessed by hinged walls that are invisible when closed. it comes with four minifigs and endless play possibilites, as well as being a fantastic display piece.

The Muppets – Beaker

MEEP MEEP MEEEEEP MEEP MEEP!? Beaker has rotatable eyes so you can change where he’s looking, an opening and closing mouth, poseable arms, and a removable dish holding a combustible experimental concoction of Honeydew’s. It even comes with a Beaker minifig and nameplate. You’ll have to provide your own MEEPs, though.

Roman Forum

Travel back in time with this set created by carloslc13.

The set includes the main temple, where the emperor spends most of his time receiving offerings and enjoying a great banquet of grapes. On either side of the temple are smaller buildings that house all kinds of Roman businesses and economic activities, such as the tavern, the Roman baths, the armoury and smithy, the clay, stone carving and carpentry workshops.

In the forum square is the fountain with the statue of the emperor and around it is the Roman market. There are 14 minifigures and some animals such as the cow, sheep, goats and a cat, ready to catch all the rats on the loose in search of the cheese stall!

Polynesian Wayfinders

Navigate the Pacific with this 2,998 piece set that consists of three parts – an ocean wave, a double-hulled voyaging canoe, and a manta ray. CJ Designs was inspired by these centuries-old explorers, as well as historic Hawaiian culture, and movies such as Moana inspired to create this diorama.

King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table

This elegant build from 10K Club member Lincoln SixBricks contains key scenes from the legend.

  • Pulling out the sword Excalibur from the stone, with the help of the magician Merlin and the Lady of the Lake
  • Selecting the knights who would show their worth by accomplishing some heroic quest, whether it is Lancelot fighting a breathing dragon or Bohort sewing some clothes so thugs can tell everyone about his -pretended- fighting skills
  • Building the Round Table and gathering the bravest knights of all around it, to plan the Holy Grail quest
  • Growing the legend by completing some secondary quest, such as killing the Giant Serpent of the Shadow Lake (that is, if Perceval and Karadoc do not confuse it with an eel, of course)
  • And finally, finally reaching the ultimate goal: the Holy Grail itself
