We’re jumping into some ‘Puzzles, Predicaments, and Perplexities,’ and a handbook for solo adventuring with this week’s 5E compatible RPGs.

It’s time to roll the dice on new releases! Come check out this week’s batch of brand-new 5E compatible tabletop role-playing games.

Puzzles, Predicaments, and Perplexities

Adventurers need much more than just brute force, magical powers, and nimble moves in order to survive the dangers that await them. A sharp mind is just as important as a sharp sword. When faced with a challenging puzzle, finding the solution can be the difference between victory and defeat.

Puzzles, Predicaments, and Perplexities contains a collection of logic puzzles, brain teasers, and encoded sequences intended to test the problem solving and deductive reasoning of characters and players. These puzzles are designed to be easily placed into any adventure with no additional work, yet also provide guidance on how Dungeon Masters can customize the details to best fit into their own campaigns.

This title includes:

  • 10 original puzzles for use in your adventures.
  • Instructions on how to scale the difficulty of the puzzles for characters of all levels.
  • Hints for each puzzle to guide players towards the solution without simply giving it away.
  • Guidance for customizing the puzzles to fit into your own adventure, campaign, or original world.
  • Optional “Raise The Stakes” sidebars for making puzzles more deadly.
  • 5 original maps suitable for in person or online play.
  • 4 original hand-outs that help visualize the layout, runes, and symbols involved with some of the puzzles.
  • A table listing of spells potentially triggered by failed solutions organized by Tier and danger level.

Vigil Watch: Bela-Kay

A city of dwarves and giantlings, torn apart by the Blood Monsoon.

A city in ruins, haunted by titanspawns and magical horrors, to be reclaimed.

A people in exile, separated from one another, thrown from one catastrophe to the other.

Vigil Watch: Bela-Kay presents the lost city of Bela-Kay in the Scarred Lands, destroyed during the Blood Monsoon that swept across the coasts of Ghelspad from 112 to 126 AV. Its citizens escaped to Burok Torn, Durrover, and the Kelder Mountains, trying to survive their ordeal the best they can.

In this supplement, you will find:

  • New NPCs representing the different Bela-Kayan factions, high-level piterins and slitherins, and new monsters such as the Column Intercessor or the Redmud Golem
  • Ten adventure seeds in the Kelder Mountains, from political intrigue, treasure hunt, and monster slaying

Dreams in the Underneath

“You are being dragged below, deep into the ocean. As you gasp for air, you jolt awake in bed, heart rattling in your chest and your whiskers twitching.”

This is a Canis Minor community product created to be compatible with Squeaks in the Deep (Pugmire). This adventure was created as part of The Next Adventure Design Jam at DriveThruRPG and Dungeon Masters Guild (2024). “Dreams in the Underneath” can work as the second Squeaks in the Deep adventure to follow up the “Connection Lost” jumpstart.

Having confronted Vayda Sax and saved the miners, this adventure picks up with the party of adventurers returning to Rootsreach and encountering a new quest hook.

The party wakes having each experienced a strange dream beckoning to journey to an enigmatic location beneath the well. Perhaps coincidentally, the local blacksmith Hallffa Scratchclaw has just posted a job for a brave team of adventurers to go under the well and retrieve the Climatology Key. There is a rival adventuring party present, considering taking the job, and a rat named Rue Autulme is desperately trying to convince everyone to side with her and understand the dangers.

Whoever the party decides to side with, all paths lead beneath the well. This location is very damp and full of underground streams and rivers—as well as the deadly aquatic creatures that inhabit this location. The party fights through, potentially dealing with the rival party as well during the quest to retrieve the Climatology Key. If they can manage to return to the ancient laboratory with the Climatology Key, they’ll find that not all was as they expected.

Sick of not being able to find a game? Have a burning passion for D&D and everything it represents, but no way to indulge that passion in actual gameplay?

5e Solo Gamebooks presents The Solo Adventurer’s Toolbox for Roll20 VTT! This compendium is the result of many months’ work and contains a complete system for generating detailed, immersive solo 5e Dungeons & Dragon adventures. And by solo, we mean true solo, without a dungeon master. There is no shortage of solo RPG tools out there, and many of them have a system-agnostic focus. The Solo Adventurer’s Toolbox focuses solely on 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons.

Using this system, paired with 5e mechanics, you can guide your PC or PCs solo through any adventure environment, creating meaningful adventures for them as they journey in the Forgotten Realms (or a campaign setting of your choice).

The Giant Guide to Xen’drik

Explore the secrets of the Shattered Continent of Xen’drik in this giant expansion for the Eberron campaign setting. The Giant Guide contains over 500 pages of content, divided into a main Setting Guide, a dedicated Bestiary, and a Character Options Guide for players. Ancient archfiends, ruined empires, lost treasures, and rising powers all await discovery for those brave enough to explore within!

This work rebuilds Xen’drik from the ground up, with every page designed with adventure in mind. The ruined empires of the giants of old scar the land with rampant magic, their lost treasures a dangerous temptation. Adventurers might delve into the frozen halls of the frost giants of Ix Il’ar, swim through dreams and nightmares in the ruins of the Cul’sir, or trade blows with the multi-armed warrior giants of Hekaton.

Between lies a rainbow of ancestries who call Xen’drik home. Fire-worshipping Súlatar drow, ‘Titanshell’ thri-kreen, spiny lizardfolk, and cyclopean goliaths are just the start. As the indelible scars of the past clash with the needs of the present, the legacy of the ancient giants shapes the course of history to this day—and with evils new and old stirring across the land, heroes are needed now more than ever!
