‘Moondrift Memory: Prologue’ Promises Pathfinder 2E Mechanics In A Video Game Setting

A newly announced video game RPG makes use of the Pathfinder 2E system to launch a new fantasy adventure in Moondrift Memory: Prologue.
A new Pathfinder video game has appeared! Although this one seems to have no ties to the world of Golarion. Instead, Streetlight Studio’s newly announced Moondrift Memory: Prologue makes use of the Pathfinder 2E rules set but seems set in its own world. Which is kind of exciting news for both the game and the Pathfinder ruleset.
After all, that’s kinda the whole point of the ORC License – that people could find ways to use the rulesets to make their own stuff. And on the accompanying Moondrift Memory: Prologue campaign images, you’ll find ‘Pathfinder Compatible’ everywhere. So, the rules are going to move forward as the engine for the game.
Although, video games being video games it also uses the ‘Starstone Engine’ which is built on top of Unnity. But that’s a whole different story. Better to say the rules of Pathfinder 2E will power the combat and interaction types of things you can get up to. Let’s take a look!
Moondrift Memory: Prologue – Pathfinder Compatible
Alright, first things first, what IS Moondrift Memory? And why prologue? All good questions. It seems like this is laying the groundwork for bigger things to come. Hence the Prologue part. But here’s what the Kickstarter launch signup page has to say:
“Moondrift Memory is a top down isometric CRPG that uses the Pathfinder Second Edition ruleset. In this Prologue chapter, players will take their party of up to four characters, including their own character they create, to complete a quest that they have accepted from Lilywall, a start-up Adventurer’s Guild, that finally got their first big break.
This CRPG is a video game utilizing the Pathfinder Second Edition System, made by fans for fans old and new. This game will be playable on the new Starstone Engine built on top of Unity and includes bonus features for Pathfinder fans such as an in-depth Character Builder that can be used for tabletop purposes as well as in the game.”
To my knowledge, there’s no part of Golarion called Lilywall or the Moondrift Valley in Golarion, which is why I’m curious to see more about what they’re developing. The Kickstarter goes live in mid-March, but you can sign up to be notified here.
Moondrift Memory: Prologue sounds like a chapter from an obscure, 00’s era JRPG.
