Strahd isn’t the only vampiric villain in ttrpgs; Pathfinder’s upcoming new Shades of Blood adventure path explores vampires and villainy.

A new adventure path, coming in April for Pathfinder 2E, will show the world that Strahd von Zarovich isn’t the only vampire villain who can lord over you with all things bloody and beautiful. Titled Shades of Blood, the new adventure path will explore Pathfinder’s take on vampires. And I suppose vampire accessories, while we’re at it.

Because the first leg of the Adventure Path will take you deep into the heart of the cult of the blood god Camazotz. Which you might recognize from Mayan mythology, or older editions of D&D or Pathfinder. A god of the night and bats—in fact the name Camazots means “death bat” it’s a natural association for vampiric threats.

Perhaps this dark and brooding campaign might convince your players to try out Pathfinder 2E if they haven’t already. Here’s what we know so far!

Pathfinder: Shades of Blood—Vampires All the Way Down

“The remote island settlement of Talmandor’s Bounty is thrown into chaos as a strange magical effect plunges the region into shadow. Urged to investigate the event, the PCs travel to a nearby island and discover an ancient Azlanti prison that was buried during Earthfall. Inside, a cult of the blood god Camazotz thrives, and in dealing with them the PCs learn that greater threats lay deeper inside the ancient complex. Can the PCs discover who’s behind the supernatural shadow and stop them before it’s too late?

Thirst for Blood is a Pathfinder Adventure for four 1st-level characters. This adventure begins the Shades of Blood Adventure Path, a three-part monthly campaign in which a group of adventurers explore a ruined ancient prison to stop a vampiric threat to cover the skies in shadow. This volume also includes a look into Camazotz, god of bats, blood, caverns, and nocturnal predators, a gazetteer of the island settlement of Talmandor’s Bounty, new player options, and a selection of dangerous monsters.”

Of course, that’s just the first part of the adventure path. There are two more installments, with even more blood, death, and vengeance in store. So keep an eye out for their release.

Got a sanguine feeling about this new AP!
