RPG: ‘Exodus’ Shows Off New ‘Traveler’s Handbook’ In Actual Play With GM James Ohlen

WotC-owned Archetype Entertainment ramps up for the release of its new sci-fi video game, Exodus, with an Actual Play RPG session.
The Matthew McConaughey-powered sci-fi RPG Exodus, which you might know from last year’s The Game Awards, is closing on its eventual release. At least in that time, it continues to happen. It’s slated for a 2026 release, at present, at least according to Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks.
But while next year seems impossibly far away – especially now, there’s still plenty to get hyped about. Not the least of which is a new tabletop RPG from Archetype Entertainment set in the same world. We’ve talked about the Exodus Traveller’s Handbook before – and how its lead design, James Ohlen (of BioWare at the height of its power renown), also headed up the fan-favorite Chains of Asmodeus, a Dante’s Inferno-inspired romp through the nine hells, giving devils a whole darker new turn in D&D.
But details about the system have been sparse. So far. Now, though, it seems you can get a peek at the system and the world in action with a new Exodus Actual Play session that just launched today.
Star Heist: An Exodus Actual Play Story
“Welcome to STAR HEIST: An EXODUS story! Led by Dungeon Master and Legendary RPG Creator James Ohlen. STAR HEIST is a Live-Action Tabletop RPG adventure set in the world of EXODUS, the upcoming sci-fi RPG video game from Archetype Entertainment.”
The actual play continues to showcase the studio’s Austin, TX roots. Among the cast, you might recognize Elizabeth Maxwell, whose voice can be found everywhere, from Persona to Zelda to Gundam. It also showcases the world of Exodus, with its Awakened Animals—this episode features an Awakened Boar named Orwell, who proves that maybe two legs really are better—and ancient alien artifacts.
You can even see the Traveller’s Handbook itself at some point towards the end. However, again, if you want to see the system in action, you’ve got to check out the AP.
Now, it’s anyone’s guess if they get McConaughey for the finale!
