‘Total War: Warhammer 3’ Celebrates Three Years With Updated Campaign AI Beta and an Old Trailer

Creative Assembly’s sprawling strategy game, Total War: Warhammer 3 turned 3 this week, with an updated AI beta and rereleased trailer.
Three years of Total War: Warhammer 3 have come and gone. And while Slaanesh still hasn’t gotten their big update (but hey, if anyone knows the agony of delayed gratification it’s a Slaaneshi), the game has come a long way since launch day. It feels like a whole other world, now. Literally, since the game map has expanded so much since the release.
But whether you were there, with Daniel the Daemon Prince at the beginning, or if you joined in once Immortal Empires came along and made the game everything it was always hoping to be, there’s no denying that the celebration for this milestone is a strange one.
Total War: Warhammer 3 – Three Years In
First and foremost, late last week, CA opened up a new beta branch, testing out updated campaign AI. This is the first big public beta in a while. And it’s a doozy. It runs through the 26th of February, so there’s still time to get in there and try it out, if you want to help shape the feedback of the upcoming rebalance.
If you’ve been looking for an excuse to start a fresh campaign, this is it. You can expect to see tweaks to AI aggression, updated AI faction on AI faction interactions that happen on the parts of the map you haven’t explored yet (what CA calls the shroud), and tweaks to how the AI responds to enemy agents. You can find more details, including how to opt in to the beta at the Total War community site.
But what makes this three years of Total War: Warhammer 3 feel like a strange one, as far as milestones go, is that Creative Assembly released a trailer titled Total War: Warhammer 3—Three Year Anniversary:
And what’s puzzling about this one, is that it’s exactly the same as the announced trailer for Total War: Warhammer 3. That’s not hyperbole either. Here, take a look:
The thumbnail is different but that seems to be it? Maybe Creative Assembly are just looking back fondly on the last three years of Total War: Warhammer 3. Or maybe they’re looking to stealthily reveal some new details about upcoming content and we just haven’t seen it yet. Either way, it is worth pointing out that Total War: Warhammer 3 has come so far since launch day. It is one of the best Warhammer games out there, certainly one of the best Warhammer Fantasy/Old World games. And it’s on sale now for 60% off on Steam!
Time to go play Empire, once again!
