Warhammer 40K: Adeptus Mechanicus Needs More Siege-Automata

Where did all the Thanatar Calix Seige-automata go in the 41st millennium? The Mechnanicus needs to bring them back with a vengeance!

The new Mechanicum Heavy Support Force is coming to the Horus Heresy very soon. And it’s a cool box for them. It’s got a pair of tanks and a Thanatar Calix Siege-automata. The tanks are neat and all but I really like the Thanatar and the rest of the automata robots that the Mechanicum has in the Horus Heresy. It’s a feature that I really hope the Mechanicus of 40k gets more of.

Bring On The Robots

While I do like the retro-future sci-fi look the Ad Mech in 40k, I feel like the army has really leaned into the machine-enhanced human aspects of the army. It’s more body modification/horror than what I personally would prefer.

Personally, I’d like less of this type of unit…

And look, I understand that there’s 10,000 years separating these two armies. Plus, there’s other lore reasons the Adeptus Mechanicus has cut back on the more robot-like units. But we still have things like the Kastelan Robots, don’t we?

…and more of this type of unit.

Personally, I’d love to see the AdMech take a page from their ancestors and bring back more Big Robots in their army. I’m not talking about Forge World resins, either. And I’m not talking about allies from the Imperial Knights. I want to see more variants of Kastelan Robots. I want to see larger versions of Kastelans that are more akin to the Siege-automata of old.

Also, I’m not saying that these big robots should be on their own either. Have them come with a support Tech-Priest or even require that “X” number of Tech-Priests must be included for every “Y” unit of them. That’s cool with me and makes sense from the lore. I just want more of the big robots and less of the “more machine than man” infantry units they are getting now.
