The Aeldari are getting a new Combat Patrol. So what sort of deal can we expect with this one? It’s napkin math time.

This weekend there is a new Combat Patrol: Aeldari Box. It’s got some decent units inside — most of which are now (un)surprisingly hard to get. Let’s do some basic math and see what the dollar value of this box is actually worth.

Aeldari Combat Patrol Pricing Breakdown

Contents

1x Spiritseer $35

5x Wraithblades $62.50

5x Warp Spiders $62.50

10x Dire Avengers $90

Total Individual MSRP: $250

Total Savings*: $80

*The Savings is based on a price point of $170 for the Combat Patrol. If that holds out you’re basically getting everything in the box at a reasonable deal. Plus everything comes with the “new approved” sized bases. That’s certainly a hot button topic these days.

It’s also worth noting the Wraithseers can be built as Wrathguard. Personally, I prefer the ranged option but you do you. Either way, I think this box has some good potential. I could even see picking up two copies just to really fill out the core of an Aeldari army.

That said, this box is also a little frustrating to see. Why? Because of all the contents in the box only the Wraithblades are currently in stock online from GW. That means this is basically the main place to order Warp Spiders, Spiritseers, and Dire Avengers right now. At least from GW. Your FLGS might have some in stock. Or they might have the old Dire Avengers box which means they probably got too small bases now…

As an person who has an Aeldari army already, I’m pretty sure I can just pull these miniatures out of my collection and play with them using the new Combat Patrol. But I’d still like to get some new Warp Spiders because they are plastic. On top of that, those hard-to-get/annoying sized 28.5mm bases on the Dire Avengers. I will admit, they do look better on the slight larger bases. It’s still going to be annoying to source and rebase all my Dire Avengers though.

Anyhow, if you’re a new Aeldari player I’d consider snagging two copies of this box. That would be a real good start to an Aeldari army collection.
