‘Warhammer 40K: Imperium Maledictum’s Inquisition Guides Want You to Root Out Heresy

Warhammer 40K: Imperium Maledictum has a new set of Inquisition Guides—out now digitally and out soon in physical form.
Warhammer 40K: Imperium Maledictum has long been a spiritual successor to the Dark Heresy line of 40K RPGs. And now, that succession is a little more spiritual, because two new books bring the Inquisition back to the forefront of Imperium Maledictum. Meaning it really is just like the good ol’ days of dying horribly in the grim darkness of the distant future.
There are two new books: the Inquisition Player’s Guide and the Inquisition GM’s Guide. Besides being very clear about who might want each book, they are both absolutely dripping with Inquisitorial splendor. And the GM’s guide looks particularly ripe for the heretical plucking.
Imperium Maledictum: The Inquisition Player’s Guide
First up the new Inquisition Player’s Guide. This is the book for all your “hapless member of the Inquisition on their way to die horribly in the name of the Emperor” dreams. You’ll have plenty of tools to help you on the way. This is where you’ll find new rules for digging in deep and playing with everything the Inquisition has to offer.
“The Macharian Sector is in peril. On all sides and from within, heretic, daemon and xenos threaten to destroy what the Emperor and his servant, Lord Solar Macharius, have built. As the Imperium’s forces take the battlefield, it falls to the Holy Ordos of the Inquisition to wage their own secretive war. Wielding ultimate authority, Inquisitors and their acolytes face corruption and damnation at every turn. They must be exacting and merciless in their vigil to survive and preserve the soul of the Imperium. Though the doom they seek to avert is inevitable, it might yet be delayed, and only the Inquisition can hope to stave off the darkness that threatens to consume the entire galaxy.“
Here’s a taste of what to expect:
- Create Inquisitor Patrons from the Ordo Hereticus, Malleus, and Xenos, granting them powerful Boons and worrisome Liabilities.
- Create your acolyte and outfit them with a host of new wargear, from iconic Inquisition weaponry to subtle tools of espionage, as well as useful Skills, cunning Talents and devastating Psychic Powers.
- Learn about the Inquisition you are bound to serve, its presence in the Macharian Sector, and everything a fresh acolyte needs to know to survive long enough to be useful to their Inquisitor.
- Train your own Cyber- or Psyber-Familiars to aid you in your missions.
- Learn to wield your Inquisitor’s limitless authority well, as the Subtletly mechanic allows players to track and benefit from discreet and clever roleplaying.
- Additional Group, Individual and Long-Term Endeavours to aid players in their investigations and prepare them for their next mission.
The Inquisiton GM’s Guide – Rife With Heresy But That’s What You Want
The Imperium Maledictum Inquisition GM’s Guide is packed full of heresy. But that’s only because that’s what your Inquisitorial players will have to fight and investigate. You will find more than just rules for corruption, daemonic influence, and assorted sins against the Imperium within its pages though. There’s also a guide to how an Inquisitor’s philosophies might influence the party. And even some allies? In the Inquisition? Scary thought. But here’s a taste:
- A deep dive into Inquisitorial Philosophies: how they can influence an Inquisitor’s decisions, shape their goals, and hook characters into further missions.
- A collection of GM advice for running Inquisition Investigations: tips on roleplaying characters, how to seed in clues, Chaos corruption and daemonic influence.
- Six sample Inquisitor Patrons with rich histories and motivations — any of them could be the perfect ally or secret enemy for your party.
- The Heresies Macharia Campaign — a decades-spanning adventure where players will travel all across the sector and face every kind of threat, all while rooting out deadly mysteries and corruption within the Inquisition itself.
- A roster of inquisitorial Contacts for players to interact with and a collection of deadly Sector Threats to seed into your campaigns — as driving antagonists or obstacles.
Both books are available now as a digital PDF when you pre-order a physical copy of the book, due out later this year!
Time to go make some “inquiries” (flamethrowers)!
