Next week is a big one for the Horus Heresy, with Mechanicus forces rolling out alongside a host of characters. Plus, Black Library Celebration Minis.

Next week is a big one for the grim darkness of the distant past of the distant future, with a cavalcade of releases from the Horus Heresy. Adeptus Mechanicus forces deploy – and deploy in style. Alongside them, a host of loyalist and traitor characters so you can either rep your side of the Heresy, or make some sick dioramas.

It’s also the Black Library Celebration. And that means Black Library miniatures to come along with the books. There are some pretty fun ones this year. Let’s take a look.

Horus Heresy – Mechanicus And Characters Extravaganza

As mentioned above, the Adeptus Mechanicus of the Horus Heresy are out in spades. You might be wondering where they get those wonderful toys? They make them. And then they excitedly test them out in the midst of the Heresy, which provides all sorts of interesting opportunities for the forges of the Mechanicus.

In the Mechanicus Heavy Support Force box, you’ll find several of these, including: a Thanatar Calix Siege-automata, a Krios Strike Tank (which can also be a Krios Venator) and a Karacnos Assault Tank. Fun times.

The Arcuitor Magisterium is one of the people who designs all those wonderful toys. Or who, at the very least, approves their creation. They also serve to eliminate anyone who would design a device some might consider…unnatural.

The Secutarii Axiarch is a skilled close combatant, capable of protecting the Titan Legions against the much smaller forces that might prove a threat to them, up close and personal. With arc land and mag-inverter shield, there’s not much at human scale they can’t take on.

Now we get into some of the broader Heresy characters, starting with someone else more machine than man. The Iron Hands Legion Praetor combines augmetics and armor to become something better than flesh. To be better. Faster. Stronger.

The Iron Warriors Warsmith is a character knowledge enough to keep the most important war engines and automata going – while also capable of wielding the powerful graviton crusher and terminator cataphractii armor, this smith hammers home any point you care to put in front of him.

Meanwhile Space Wolves unleash the power of the Caster of Runes. They’re not psychic. They get their powers from the primal elemental forces that inhabit the Paradise World of Fenris, where they do not have wolves at all ever.

Loyalist and Traitor Herald Consuls come in two distinct flavors, Loyal or Heretic. They carry banners into battle and have to be real tough because everyone wants to kill them.

Meanwhile the Loyalist and Traitor Overseer Consuls are very different. Overseer Consuls are responsible for raising up the Solar Auxilla and making sure they know how to survive long enough to deal at least one telling blow to the enemy before they get blown up.

Black Library Celebration Minis

The Black Library miniatures kick off with Minska Lesk of the Cadian 101st and her cohort from the upcoming Hell’s Last novels. Just look at them, half of them don’t know they’re probably gonna die 100 pages or so in.

And in the Age of Sigmmar, we get Maleneth Witchblade. Maleneth stars in the upcoming Shade of Khaine novel and has a very swashbuckly new miniature.
