AoS: Roadmap Wishlist – Idoneth Deepkin

The future is bright for Age of Sigmar fans, and there are a few things I’m hoping we see for the ferocious fishmen.
Welcome in, Generals of the Realms! We recently got a massive wolf box for the Gloomspite Gitz, and a box of bones is hot on their heels soon for the Soulblight. Games Workshop has given players some really awesome stuff to players with these special boxes, and they don’t seem to be slowing down. The roadmap is positively stacked with new armies, and 4.0 just keeps getting better. However, we don’t know what we’ll get in the upcoming drops (if we get anything at all). That doesn’t stop us from hoping, however, and there are a few things that I would love to see for the next army in line, the Idoneth Deepkin.

Akhelian Infantry

The Akhelian Thrallmaster was an awesome new leader piece for the Idoneth. Having an Akhelian Aelf fighting on foot alongside the Namarti was a nice change of pace for the mount-heavy playstyle the Idoneth had been known for. However, I wish they hadn’t stopped there. Having all the Akhelians mounted on fish monsters takes away from how deadly they are rumored to be as fighters. They feel a lot like Drukhari, and so I wish there was a heavier infantry Incubi equivalent of Akhelian foot soldiers to back up the Namarti packs. That isn’t to say I don’t like the mounted variants; I just want to see more infantry for the Aelves.
Manifestations
One of my favorite things about the new iteration of Age of Sigmar is all the Endless Spells we’re getting now. And yes, I know they’re called Manifestations now, but we all know what I mean. Unfortunately, the Idoneth don’t have any at the moment, even though they’re the perfect army for it. An army of Teclis’s rejected children backed up by literal embodiments of the ocean and storms should have a nasty suite of living spells. I’m hoping for a tidal wave, a school of carnivorous fish, and maybe a fog wall. However, anything sea-related that we get will be awesome. Of course, GW could decide to break with tradition and NOT give them a spell, but that seems unlikely.
Namarti Cavalry
Just like we need more on-foot Akhelians, I’d love to see some mounted Namarti. I know they’re seen as second-class in Idoneth society, and as such, probably wouldn’t be given the right to claim a mount, but I still think it would be neat. Imagine the eyeless terrors racing into battle on the backs of fast-moving fish or driving a chariot pulled by massive seahorses. We could even bring in Hippocampi, which could be cool. I know this is a long shot, but hey, a general can dream.
What changes do you want to see for the Idoneth?
