‘Frosthaven’ Video Game In The Works With Creator Of X-COM – So Much For Free Time

Arc Games announced a Frosthaven video game adaptation developed by Snapshot Games, whose CEO, Julian Gollop, created X-COM.
Do you have enough free time in your life? No, me neither. But there’s about to be even less of it. It’s time to start trying to decide whether you’re slacking at work, home, or in your social life (I plan on cutting back in all three sections equally) because publisher Arc Games just announced a new Frosthaven video game adaptation.
Not only is it a Frosthaven video game, but it’s also being developed by Snapshot Games, whose CEO, Julian Gollop, is the creator of the GPA-ruining X-COM UFO Defense. Isaac Childress, Gloomhaven and Frosthaven’s creator is consulting on development to make sure it still feels like a haven game.

Alongside the announcement, a new trailer showcases the gorgeous vistas of Frosthaven and the kinds of combat that will be shattering your circadian rhythms. And it makes sense. Gloomhaven’s video game was extremely well received. This new version adds in all the new wrinkles from Frosthaven, including Outpost construction, unlockable characters, and all the addictive deck-based gameplay you have come to know and love.
Fans of turn-based tactical games are going to be feasting upon this one especially since it will launch with co-op multiplayer in mind.
Frosthaven Video Game Announcement Trailer
Just feast your eyes on the trailer. There are several quality-of-life changes that you get just from the benefit of some of the game’s “AI” being handled by a computer. An automated town phase, combat where the enemies take their turns, and you don’t have to argue over who they’re going to attack because, yeah, we’re technically equidistant, but YOU’RE the one who would make our situation worse if they killed you, Trevor.
That is, it smooths out the bumps in the board game play and might make it a little more accessible for you and your friends.
I do wonder a little about the timing of the release. At launch, they will have “35+ quests,” with plans for over 130 total in the works as development continues. Why not just finish the quests and then launch the game when all is said and done?
But that’s a minor concern. Especially compared to the living world that the developers of Snapshot Games are working hard to create. This includes a “stunning world” with changing seasons, diverse biomes, and dynamic environments. Not to mention all the classes and unlockable classes. I can’t wait to see if I actually can play a Blinkblade and if it’s just my party that’s been holding me back or if I was the problem all along.
But if you want to take Frosthaven for a spin, you won’t have to wait – you can sign up for a beta test coming March 27th.
I’m pretty sure that I’m the one holding me back, but until this game releases, I don’t have to confirm anything.
