Games Workshop Rumor Engine: Where There’s Smoke There’s Fire

Games Workshop has a new Rumor Engine that’s looking mighty smokey.
Welcome to another Tuesday Rumor Engine from Games Workshop. It appears we’ve got a bit of an abstract shape today. That’s according to GW, not me. Anyhow let’s show off what we’re working with before we get too far in the speculation portion of the Rumor Engine.
“This month’s theme for the Rumour Engine is ‘abstract shapes’, because clearly we haven’t been confusing enough already. Comprehension is overrated, embrace confusion!
What are you doing? That’s not abstract at all…”
Rumor Engine – Where There’s Smoke There’s Fire
The text from the Rumor Engine goes on to mention that this could be some sort of weird fungus thing…but yeah, I’m pretty sure we’re looking at some smoke. We have had smoke on miniatures before. The Weird Nob from Age of Sigmar comes to mind.
Now, I’m not saying the Rumor Engine today is a Weirdnob Shaman. It could be a LOT of things. The smoke and dirt below it could be from just about any army out there. I’m afraid we just don’t have a lot to go on today. I’m going to send this Rumor Engine to the “too vague to be useful” pile unfortunately.
Just as another example above is the Primaris Lieutenant in Reiver Armour. At his feet is a smoke grenade. It’s not the same smoke as what we’re seeing in the Rumor Engine but the point stands. Lots of armies use smoke or have smoke-like stuff going on various miniatures. A lot of them don’t even have a direct “fire” source visible either.
So here is where I turn this over to you readers. If you’ve got any theories as to what this one could be drop us a line in the comments. And this time, please let us know the why behind your theories. What are you seeing in this image that’s informing your guessing skills?!
At least it’s not smoke on the water…
