The Mechanicum has a new batch of bots to help it advance the machine logic. Check out the Ursarax Cohort up close!

Games Workshop has been rolling out some awesome Mechanicum kits lately. We’ve had the big box of Heavy Support. That has some really great tanks in it. But I’ve been pretty clear that I’m a fan of the robots! So I’m glad to see the Urarax Cohort get released, too.

Similar in design to Thallax, the Ursarax are not full-blown automata so much as a jumble of a living soldier’s important internal bits encased in a hard shell and strapped to a jetpack. These close combat specialists generally pack a pair of wicked lightning claws, though some are armed with power fists. They move at blazing speeds thanks to their Utan jump boosters.

So our very own Goatboy built these miniatures. And honestly there’s a lot going on. There’s all the various cords and piping as well as the various pistons and other doodads.  At the end of the day, these guys have rocket packs strapped to their back and really big talons to tear into the enemy.

I like the dangerous vibes these robots give off. I actually think I like the lightning claws look better — but I can see those two ‘bots with power fists being scary as well. That said, the box allows you to build 6 total Ursarax so you can load them up how you’d like.

Sorry there’s not a lot of miniature pics this time around. To be honest, if you’ve seen one, you’ve basically seen the whole unit. The kit itself does have 262 bits — which seems like a LOT for 6 miniatures. But when you do the math on all those pipes and individual claws and the armor panels it starts to add up. It total, there’s enough bits to equip the whole unit with lightning claws and up to two of the six with power fists. Sorry, no full squad of power fist here.
