Build Buffy’s HQ, the Mighty Ducks’ Ice Rink, and more with these LEGO IDEAS throwback challenge sets—voting for round two is open now!

The staff has sorted through hundreds of entries to highlight five LEGO IDEAS throwback sets. These are now up for a fan vote. The Grand Prize Winner will see their build turned into a set, so if you want to build it, make sure you let LEGO know.

To truly honor the 90s, we’ve crafted two exciting challenges that capture the era’s diverse and rich movie and TV scenes. After all, the 90s were a vibrant mix of everything – from blockbuster hits to cult classics, action-packed adventures to heartfelt dramas. Whether you’re inspired by TV shows or legendary films, we can’t wait to see how YOU capture the 90s entertainment spirit with LEGO bricks!

Mr. Bean

This 365-piece set is based on popular the series featuring the bumbling Mr. Bean. Creator Diving Faces chose one of their favorite scenes from the series, which has him driving his car from its roof.

He goes shopping and then realizes that he can’t fit everything into his car. He then ties his new chair onto the roof and drives his car home using his makeshift driving seat and steering mechanism. I added a road and footpath to complete the scene and make it a diorama with a couple of easter eggs, including the postbox which he gets stuck in and also a parking meter (we know Mr. Bean doesn’t like to have to pay for parking or park too far away from where he is going).

Buffy the Vampire Slayer – The Sunnydale HS Library

This LEGO IDEAS throwback set is filled with easter eggs from the show that are sure to delight fans—to start:

  • Eggs, from Bad Eggs (Season 2, episode 12)
  • Pom-poms from Witch (Season 1, episode 3)
  • Crystals from Helpless (Season 3, episode 12)
  • Mask from Dead Man’s Party (Season 3, episode 2)
  • Spiders from Choices (Season 3, episode 13)
  • Rat from Gingerbread (Season 3, episode 11)
  • Floppy disc from Becoming Part 1 (Season 2, episode 21)

Also included among the library’s stacks are minifigs of Buffy, Giles, Willow, Angel, and Xander.

Forrest Gump

The movie’s iconic bench is at the center of this set. It also features important items from Forrest’s story. Display him with a box of chocolates, a ping pong paddle, a Bubba Gump Shrimp hat, a Curious George book, and more. It all tucks into his suitcase, which can also hold a LEGO Passport and other keepsakes.

Wallace & Gromet

Build the beloved Aardman characters and their main mode of transport – Wallace’s motorcycle with its sidecar perfect for Gromet. The LEGO IDEAS throwback set faithfully recreates the pair as seen on screen and is cleverly designed with no visible studs. It also captures Wallace’s signature delighted grin. This is the perfect set for fans. I just wish it had a chicken. Or a penguin.

The Mighty Ducks

This brick-built scrappy hockey team is ready for their next game. The 437-piece set recreates an ice rink with faceoff spots and a goal for Greg to protect. It includes minifigs, the team are dressed in Mighty Duck uniforms and wear skates:
