Marvel: Crisis Protocol – Hoping To See The Fantastic Four Announced At AdeptiCon

With AdeptiCon coming at the end of March I hope Atomic Mass Games has The Fantastic Four in their line-up.
This is totally a wish-list and “dream big” sort of shot in the dark for me. I’ve got my fingers crossed that Atomic Mass Games has the Fantastic Four ready to be announced at AdeptiCon 2025. They probably won’t show up soon on the tabletop of Marvel: Crisis Protocol. At the earliest, it could be Q4 of 2025. But I’m basing that on the roadmap from the Ministravaganza:
To be fair, there’s some really cool releases coming out soon. I’ve been goofing around with the War of Kings and running Nova (and Yondu) in a Guardians of the Galaxy list already. Plus we’re getting more mutants in Q2. I’m particularly excited about the Phoenix miniature on the way!
While there’s some great stuff lined up for this year in Marvel: Crisis Protocol there is also the glaring blind spot missing from the game: The Fantastic Four.
Why The Fantastic Four?
Now, I know what you might be thinking about them. “Who cares about the Fantastic Four?!” The fact is that they are the first family of Marvel. While they’ve had some pretty hit-or-miss media tie-ins in the past they open the door to a whole other section of Marvel that hasn’t been explored in MCP yet. Through the Fantastic Four we get the likes of Doctor Doom and Galactus. We also get Mole Man …which I think would be hilarious.
Yeah…that Mole Man.
But to back it up a bit I think the time is ripe for AMG to introduce the Fantastic Four at AdeptiCon. Sure, it would have been a great tie-in back when they were celebrating the Fourth Year Anniversary of MCP. However, now is a much better time for a pair of really good reasons.
It’s Called …Marketing
The first reason is because Marvel Rivals recently added in the other two members of the Fantastic Four. We now have The Human Torch and The Thing in the game. It’s been kind of a big deal. Marvel Rivals has become a thing in the video gaming space. It’s even gotten a few of my friends to pick-up and play Marvel: Crisis Protocol. There’s already cross-promotion happening even without a push like this. So just imagine how much more of a push there could be.
The second big reason (and this one is also blatantly obvious) is that there’s a big Summer movie coming. We’ve all seen the posters and the trailers, right?
Look, I don’t know if this movie is going “turn things around” for the MCU or not. Personally, I’m hoping that it’s just comes out as a good movie in general and we can worry about MCU tie-ins later…but that’s another topic.
The point is it’s probably going to be the biggest movie in July and possibly the Summer. So, if I were in charge, I’d want to have the Fantastic Four in MCP ride that wave of free marketing.
I blacked out the spoiler-y parts. You’re welcome.
I’ll Take The Fantastic Four, Please
I do want to say that I have no idea what all goes on with bringing a character from the comics to the tabletop. I’m not sure what sorts of conversations AMG has to have with Marvel (and with Disney) to make that happen. I don’t know if there’s a licensing thing, negotiations, or just stuff getting tied-up with lawyers.
I’m also pretty sure that AMG would LOVE to bring the Fantastic Four to the tabletop if for no other reason than to stop the constant badgering from the fans. I’m positive they know that players want the Fantastic Four in the game. Basically every MCP post on their Facebook page has someone say “Fantastic Four when!?”
Like this…but also way better.
But AdeptiCon 2025 now seems like the best time ever to make this announcement. Coming hot off the heels of Marvel Rivals and queuing up before the Fantastic Four movie in July. Who knows!? Maybe that was the plan all along. I sure hope so…
And they better all be Threat Level 4 characters or that’s just a missed opportunity.
