Marvel: Crisis Protocol – We Need The ‘Dark Avengers’

With AdeptiCon happening this week I’m hoping for some big announcements for Marvel: Crisis Protocol. Bring on the Dark Avengers!
I already made my pitch for the Fantastic Four to get announced this week at AdeptiCon. But I also wanted to take a look at the release schedule and maybe pitch one more “Super Team” that could get announced. Here’s hoping we get a Dark Avengers release!

Bring On The Dark Avengers
So who are the Dark Avengers? Well, it has to do with the Dark Reign storyline and the events that happened after that. Here’s a really high level recap: Tony Stark was the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. at the time. His Starktech was compromised by Skrulls and he got blamed for a lot of the failures when the Skrulls invaded Earth. Norman Osborn was the director of the Thunderbolts at the time and used his position to influence the government. S.H.I.E.L.D. was decommissioned and was replaced by H.A.M.M.E.R. (which never did have an actual acronym) with Osborn in charge.
With Osborn in charge he reinstated the Avengers…but with his people instead replacing the heroes. The team is actually kind of a powerhouse to be fair. With Osborn as Iron Patriot (in a repainted Iron Man Suit), he also had The Sentry and Ares on the team. Hawkeye was actually Bullseye, Spider-Man was actually Mac Gargon (Venom), and Ms. Marvel was actually Moonstone. Wolverine on the team wasn’t Logan, it was his son Daken. And the final replacement was the Kree Noh-Varr who was Captain Marvel.
Now, I’m not going to get into what all happens with this team. Things don’t exactly go smoothly for all the parties involved. But that’s not the point. I just think it’s eight characters that are totally worth adding to the game.
If nothing else, we get some alternate costumes for these characters. Plus we also get to have them wear the names of these heroes but they could have different powers. I really want to see The Sentry added as well as Ares. But I’d also be down to paint up Daken in that classic Wolverine color scheme, too!
Say what you want about the story arc itself. I think this team would be awesome on the tabletop in MCP!
