Necromunda: More Rules For The Ash Waste Nomads Revealed – Send In The Beasts

The Ash Wastes Nomads are calling in reinforcements with deadly beasts. The Soinewyrms and Helamites are coming out of the sands!
When it comes to the Ash Wastes there’s lots of threats to caravans out there. Obviously, there’s the Nomads who do the raids but there’s also the environmental factors to consider. It’s harsh and the things that actually live out in the Ash Wastes are just as dangerous — even if they appear small.
The Ash Waste Nomads have tapped into that wasteland power. They are bringing the beasts out to play in the new Tribes of the Wasteland coming soon. Today, we’re getting a preview of some of their rules, too.
“Their spartan forces are now further augmented with nominally tame wasteland beasts, from the vicious, biting Arthromite Spinewyrms they keep as pets to the flying Ashwing Helamites. Their excellent agility across the board makes them valuable scouts for Nomad Hunting Parties, though the elite Sha’dar Hunters are the only ones brave enough to tame the Spinewyrms, who back them up in combat with their barbed fangs. Crucially, these Hunters and their pets are Wasteland Ambushers who can be deployed last, literally anywhere on the board so long as they are 9” from an enemy, while the Spinewyrms are Small Targets applying a -1 to hit penalty on ranged attacks.”
Ash Waste Nomads And Their Beastly Besties
Arthromite Herders are back in the new book. They first appeared in the Book of the Outcasts. They bring in more Arthromites Duneskuttlers to the roster for the Nomads. And you’ll want to keep these creatures around because they are notoriously Hard to Kill.
The Ashwing Helamites are another creature coming to the tabletop. These are smaller than the Dustback Helamites but they bring Flight to the fight. Plus they have a rule called Long Leash that allows them to operate even further from their handler. They are going to be nasty with an 8″ move and toxic mandibles to attack with.
More Warrior Spirits
We also get a pair of Warrior Spirits to peruse today as well. Again, there’s going to be four groups of six to tap into for the Ash Waste Nomads. They offer up yet another edge in combat for the Ash Wastes Nomads — if you’re willing to call upon these spirits.
Additional Resources From The Wasteland
Not content with beasts and spirits, the Ash Waste Nomads also have other sources of allies. There’s the Nomad Trading Post where they can barter for new gear. Where else do you think the purchase those chain lances? Certainly not in the underhive! There’s also the assortment of Hired Guns they can recruit…
“There are several Hired Guns: the Nomad Outcast, the Nomad Harrier and the Nomad House Agent. At 30 credits plus gear, the first of these is the ash wastes equivalent of Hive Scum, but the second is an 80-credit Bounty Hunter analogue who can take up to three skills on a variety of statlines, and who generates additional income for the gang via their Dead, Not Alive and Claiming Salvage abilities. Of course, they will want their cut…”
If you’re looking to get your own Ash Waste Nomad party started then get ready. This weekend their new book Tribes of the Wasteland is going up for pre-order.
Still not sure what expect with those Ashwing Helamites…but they sound nasty!
