Seriously, I’m excited for this one. Shadowdark is an amazing game, and the Western Reaches expansion looks to make it the sort of game you can play for years. There are more places to explore, more guidelines for longer campaigns, and of course, new classes to play. All this and still more in the wildly successful Shadowdark Kickstarter.

If you’re unfamiliar, Shadowdark is hot off an ENnie-award sweeps last year, where it snagged multiple awards, including Best Game, Best Product, and Best Rules. It’s incredible, and if you haven’t played it, you should. Shadowdark is familiar enough to anyone who’s ever played D&D, but it’s also a distinctive game with plenty of new paradigms to crunch on.
And the new Kickstarter for the Shadowdark Western Reaches expansion keeps that momentum going. When I started writing this article, the crowdfunding campaign was at ~$667k. And at press time it hit $820,100. And with good reason too. This Kickstarter promises a huge expansion that will keep the game fresh for years:

In addition to the setting book, you’ll find three new Cursed Scroll zines that add new character options, rules, adventures, etc. to the game.
