Helldiver’s Major Orders… In a Tabletop RPG?
Starset RPG is on Kickstarter for three more days, but the game’s grimdark content is far from over.
This new sci-fi RPG utilizes ‘Living Lore’ to keep the tabletop RPG world dynamic long after the core rulebook is published. In addition to an RPG’s typical campaign supplements and one-shots (some of which are already announced), Starset is taking a trick out of Helldivers 2 by publishing monthly Milestones—in-game story events players can vote on to guide how the in-game world evolves.
These Milestones are similar to Helldiver’s Major Orders by prompting players with two in-world events. Players then have three months to vote on the outcome of both events and play sessions that engage with the events. Players can even submit session reports, short-stories, or novella chapters based on the event for a chance to have their stories canonized in Starset lore for players around the world.
After three months, each Milestone is resolved based on community votes and becomes a canon event, forever changing the in-game world. New content will be accepted, posted and catalogued on Hoodwink Games’ website for easy access and reference! Plus, the Starset core manual includes blank maps for players to track and note evolving story events right in their own book.
