The Potions From ‘Quacks’ are Too Strong For You, Traveler

Previously released as The Quacks of Quedlinburg, the newly-released Quacks has a shiny new coat of paint and 3 separate editions for every type of potion seller.
Quacks is hands down one of the best press-your-luck games out there. It’s won multiple awards and has been a fan-favorite since it was released in 2018. This latest release of Quacks gives the game a new, updated look, updated tokens, and multiple purchase options, depending on how invested you are. And, let me tell you, should should invest!
Quacks Overview
In Quacks, players are potion makers. They are each looking to make the best possible potions by cramming as many ingredients into each potion as possible. More ingredients equals more stronger potions, obviously! But, adding too much of the explosive boom berries means you’ll be spending the rest of the day mopping the remnants of your potion off the ceiling.
With each game, different ingredient cards are chosen, which will determine the different effects, points, and more that the players will gain as they add these ingredients to their potions. On each round, players draw ingredients randomly from their bag and add it to their cauldron, spiraling outward with each new token. But hidden among the ingredient bag are explosive cherry bombs. Each token has a certain number value. If the total value of these tokens is 7 or more, the potion explodes! Better luck next time.
Quacks is a fantastic and simple game with tons of replayability thanks to the multitude of different ingredients. Plus, players get to pick and choose how they build their potion bag. Giving a surprising amount of strategy, and option for playing the odds.
Quacks now has 3 new editions, the standard edition and the deluxe edition are functionally the game, but the deluxe edition has upgraded tokens and components to give it a more satisfying feel. The all-in edition comes with The Witches and The Alchemists expansions. It also expands the player count from 4 to 5. In my opinion, if you’re going to be going for this game at all, you might as well go for the all-in edition. You won’t regret it.
