Warhammer 40K – Fulgrim, the Not Needed!?

Goatboy here to tak about the new Fulgrim datasheet from Codex Emperor’s Children. The serpentine Daemon Primarch needs help.
All of the other Daemonic Primarchs are very important to their armies. They are either focal points for all the books interactions, a massive beat stick to scare the crap out of your army, or just a psychic cannon ready to wreck things. Fulgrim feels so weird when compared to the others. While his rules are alright… he just doesn’t do anything for the Emperor’s Children army that a pair of Winged Daemon Princes can’t do already. Today let’s talk about what I would do to “fix” Fulgrim and make him a team player.
Change Fulgrim’s Abilities to Auras
Fulgrim needs to have all of his rules be some form of Aura that grants rules to his followers. I don’t understand how the focal point for your army doesn’t do anything for his purple buddies other than being a giant sassy snake doing sneaky snake stuff. All of his options should have spread to any of his buddies around him with the first aura, a -1 to be hit, and just some kind of cool leadership option. I just don’t understand why the GW Design Studio wouldn’t push it when Angron does all of this and hates all his little buddies. Heck you could make it be some kind of weird drug smoke that wafts around him and brings all kinds of fun things to the tabletop. Fulgrim himself could BE a Combat Drug!
Give Fulgrim More Attacks
He needs help to let him break through the enemy. Man do his attacks feel kinda of weak when compared to things like Angron or Magnus. It feels like he just needs more attacks or a way to get a better Sustained to activate more things. I also wonder if his damage should be something like d3+6 or something else to be more locked in. He just feels like he doesn’t do enough when you compare him to other assault options. He should have more psychic shooting attacks, more poison nonsense, and just more punch.
Make Fulgrim Faster
This guy needs to not give a crap about any terrain in the way, and needs to get into the enemy lines in a hurry. This should be a rule like becoming Liquid and he just moves through all things as if they were not there. There should be no bubble wrap that keeps his bad touch from your butt. He should even do Mortal Wounds as he moves over things as the smoke of his form cuts like blades as it gets near. He needs to be the scary nightmare built to curl around your desires and bring brutal honesty to your death.
Why Doesn’t Fulgrim Have Feel No Pain?
Seriously how this monster who loves pain, runs around with an exposed Slaanesh Heart, not have Feel No Pain? Just give him a 6+ Feel No Pain so he isn’t as special as Mortarion but is at least a threat like Angron. He could even give that out as an Aura to his Emperor’s Children buddies as they are high on his glittery sexy-times stank glands. It just feels like a giant missed opportunity and showcases how his Datacard feels weak when you look at other Daemon Primarchs out there.
Of course all of this could mean Fulgrim is the ew normal, and all those other Daemonic Primarchs might be getting kicked in the junk soon. But we’ll have to wait and see. I appreciate he isn’t needed in the army to work but I would like to seriously think about taking him. I guess it is nice I don’t need to paint him up asap to get the army on the table top.
