The Goremongers of Khorne are being unleashed on Kill Team and Games Workshop is showing off what they can do!

In the Grimdark Universe the creatures of the warp are a real threat. When they manifest it’s rare for witnesses to survive. But for some, seeing those daemonic entities in action becomes a sort of dark inspiration. The Goremongers are what happens when you take that to the extreme — and bloody — conclusion.

The Goremongers of Khorne strive to be like the Bloodletters that inspire them and today we’re getting a look at the miniatures and also some of their rules for Kill Team!

“In some ways the Goremongers are not so different to their adversaries, the pious Sanctifiers, in the upcoming Kill Team: Blood and Zeal expansion box. They are both devoted to their god, and to eradicating his enemies with irrepressible zeal and snarling chain weapons. However, where the Imperials apply to the divine for protection and healing, the cultists of Khorne channel their rage into the thing they know best – pure, unadulterated murder.”

Goremongers of Khorne In Kill Team

Leading the Kill Team is the Blood Herald. You can see the “inspiration” in the image above. The Blood Herald is clearly going for a Bloodletter inspired look with the head gear and leg implants. This Kill Team knows what they are about!

“Seven operatives join the Blood Herald to make a very Khorne-pleasing team of eight – of whom five can be specialists with their own unique method of slaughter. They can also be built as regular Aspirants with long-handled chainglaives, which pack as much punch as a chainsword wielded by a Space Marine.”

Now, you might be thinking “oh great another close combat focused Kill Team.” And that’s mostly true. But they didn’t leave all the ranged options at home. In fact, they have a really nasty one designed to complement their strengths.

The Goremonger Impaler can shoot a target and then drag them closer with their special fleshskewer weapon. Their weapon also has the special Prey rule which allows them to NOT kill their target outright. Why would they want to avoid that? Simple: So someone else can charge them to gain distance and to enter the “safety” of close combat. Brutal.

Goremongers also have a special rules called Gore Tanks. They can fill these up to trigger special abilities like the ones above. These tanks start half full and for each half, they can trigger ONE of these six powerful abilities. Based on the two examples above I think the Goremongers are going to have some really gnarly tricks up their (lack of) sleeves.
