The new Soulblight Gravelords Deathrattle Army set is in the studio! We’re taking a look inside the box and at the miniatures.

All this week we’ve been getting teasers about the upcoming Deathrattle Army Set for the Soulblight Gravelords. It’s a really solid foray into the Death Grand Alliance and a good box to kickstart an army overall. Well, we’ve got it in the studio and we’ve assembled the miniatures. Let’s check out the contents and these new plastics for the Deathrattle Army!

Deathrattle Army Set Unboxed

The box comes with a total of 26 miniatures. All of them are new plastic sculpts. It’s probably a safe bet to assume they are coming out as solo kits at a later point but this box is the first crack you’ll get at these miniatures.

It’s also the first crack you’ll have at the full rules for the army. Don’t worry, we’re going to have more on those later. But for now, here’s a quick look at the shiny Battletome and the unit cards:

The Deathrattle Miniatures

Wight King on Skeletal Steed

First up, we’ve got the Wight King who’s leading this army set. Personally, I like the new sculpt and think the big base with all the extra grave elements is a nice touch. I do wonder what this fella was like in real life. The armor kind of reminds me of a Chaos Warrior but the iconography says Sigmarite (or at least non-chaos). You’ll see this carried on throughout the army set, too. I like this one!

Barrow Knights

The Barrow Knights are another great looking unit altogether. While their armor and weapons might be tinged with the wear and tear of time, you can tell they used to be deadly warriors in life. Now, in death, they still serve — just a different master. This is a nice rework of the skeletal cavalry from previous editions.

Barrow Guard

The Barrow Guard are the new Skeletal Infantry for the Soulblight Gravelords. You can kind of think of them as Grave Guard 2.0 (or maybe X.0 — it all depends on when you want to start counting versions). I do like the more dynamic poses for these miniatures. They have an unnatural motion to them. You also get plenty of bits so you can build them with swords and boards or with the big two-handed weapons.

Soulblight Gravelords – Deathrattle Army Set Available This Weekend

This army set is going up for pre-order this weekend. They appear to be sold out on the UK version of GW’s site already. But maybe they are still available in your region. Good luck getting your hands on this one.
