Assassin’s Creed: Animus Coming To Crowdfunding From Mantic Games

Launching later in 2025, Assassin’s Creed: Animus brings the legendary franchise to a new competitive board game setting.
Mantic Games has announced that a new project is in the works. Assassin’s Creed: Animus pits 2-4 players as assassins that will battle across the different historical eras.
Crowdfunding later in 2025, Assassin’s Creed and tabletop fans alike can look forward to an ambitious and compelling experience that spans across many popular eras of the legendary franchise, as well as including a wide cast of fan-favourite Assassins.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Ubisoft to create the Assassin’s Creed board game” said Ronnie, our CEO and founder. “Fans can expect a deep respect for the franchise’s lore and history, exciting asymmetric characters, and tough gameplay choices between pursuing your own objectives while needing to maintain their edge over other players.”
Assassin’s Creed: Animus Pre-Campaign Is Live
While the details are still relatively light, we do have a bit to go on from the pre-campaign. For starters we will have different assassins you can play as and each will have different abilities.
I’m betting because Animus is in the title (a reference to a key piece of technology in the franchise) that will be the reason you’ll be competing with other players. It may also explain the different historical eras the assassins will be battling through.
We’ll be keeping an eye on this one to see how it develops later. It’s also important to note Mantic Games is taking their US Followers in account:
Special Note for US Followers:
Mantic Games is mindful of how the unfolding tariffs situation is currently affecting the tabletop community, and has scenario planning in place so that US fans will be able to back this project with confidence. More details will follow closer to launch.
As a reminder, a tariff is a tax on imported goods. And the Trump tariffs are based on limited tariff authority delegated to the president decades ago. The US Constitution puts tariff power solely in the hands of Congress; which could step in and stop the Trump tariffs any moment if they so choose. So, unless Congress steps in or Trump decides to end the tariffs himself, we’re still going to be dealing the this global uncertainty.
In the meantime, we’ll be hoping that Mantic manages to capture the essence of Assassin’s Creed like they managed to with the Halo Franchise.
I still here the guards yelling “Assassinio!” when I think about my time playing Assassin’s Creed.
