Perhaps the most influential board game, CATAN, has come out with a new 6th edition which brings a new feel to a modern classic.

This latest edition of CATAN updates the components with new art and new overall feel. The rulebook has been updated too. It’s much easier to follow and learn for newer players with updated layout and mroe graphic illustrations for various examples.

CATAN 6th Edition Will “Reach New Audiences”
“Catan has always been a game about thinking differently, challenging oneself, and bringing people together,” said Guido Teuber, CEO of CATAN GmbH and son of Catan designer, Klaus Keuber. “With this next iteration of the game, we are modernizing the Catan brand for today’s players, opening the doors to reach new audiences, and breaking down barriers to get people who may have never played a board game before excited about Catan. The 6th edition of Catan maintains the essential mechanics that have made it a mainstay game for any gaming household. However, many of the game’s components have been updated to improve the overall experience. For example, observant fans will notice the font size difference in the resource chits. This provides an even more clear indicator of which hexes are likely to be more profitable. Plus, the newly designed eco-friendly box trays and organized card holders provide a cleaner layout for playing the game.
“In designing CATAN’s sixth edition, our goal was to enhance many parts of the player experience without redefining the game play […] to simplify the learning component of picking up the game for the first time,” said Benjamin Teuber, managing director and game designer at CATAN GmbH. “It was of utmost importance to us to of course maintain the brilliant and still contemporary game mechanics that our father created 30 years ago[…].”
