D&D: WotC Confirms The SRD 5.2 Will Launch April 22nd

Alongside a batch of new errata, WotC announced the imminent release of the updated SRD 5.2. The new core rules will be in Creative Commons.
Big news for the D&D playerbase and its associated creators today as WotC announced the imminent release of the SRD 5.2. The new SRD will be a free version of the 2024 Core Rules, released under the Creative Commons (CC-BY-4.0) license.
This is a far cry from two years ago, when the upcoming revocation of the OGL sparked all sorts of controversy. Now, however, WotC will be using CC-BY-4.0 for its updates going forward. You can see it all for yourself on April 22nd.
WotC To Release 5.2 SRD In Creative Commons On April 22nd

From WotC’s announcement, it sounds like they have big plans for the SRD going forward. To get ahead of any potential confusion, they are starting with some clarification.
“The SRD contains the base game rules for Dungeons & Dragons. It is used by third-party publishers to build products using the Dungeons & Dragons ruleset, which creators can reference in their products without paying a licensing fee to Wizards of the Coast.
SRD 5.2 includes foundational content from the 2024 core rules. You’ll find an updated and expanded library of referenceable content, such as the rules glossary, weapon mastery properties, and exploration mechanics.”
Alongside the new SRD, there will be a “Creator FAQ” that will further explain what WotC believes their community is permitted to do within the confines of the license. This is an excellent chance for WotC to earn back some of the trust they damaged in the initial dusty, so the community is looking carefully to see what else the tabletop behemoth includes with its new SRD.
WotC also signals a “non-overlapping” D&D Beyond Basic Rules 2024 that will replace the current “free rules” on D&D Beyond, and which won’t be available under CC-BY-4.0.
You can see it all for yourself on April 22nd!
Creators can also look forward to an official “conversion guide” released at the same time to keep older titles up to date!
