Games Workshop Rumor Engine: ‘Light It Up’

It might be April 1st but this Rumor Engine from Games Workshop is no joke. Something is about to light it up!
Welcome to another Tuesday! You know what that means: It’s Rumor Engine time from Games Workshop. Today’s image is rather obvious what we’re looking at. That said, it’s one of those images that still has us scratching our heads. Who’s wielding this one? Have a look for yourself to start your guessing engines!
“We had so many pictures of craftily dragon-shaped weapons and lamellar armour to tease out over the next few months, and then those devious goblins over in the Intentional Reveals Department went and plastered Grand Cathay all over the AdeptiCon preview show! How dare they!
We’ll show them. What’s something they won’t be showing off for a while?”
Rumor Engine – Light It Up
So this one is pretty clearly a flamethrower. The weapon has all the signs of one. What’s curious to me are the hooks on the chain coming off the bottom. It’s also looks a bit more Baroque than a typical Imperial flamer weapon.
As you can see from the Infernus Squad, their weapons are a tad more streamlined with less exposed piping. No, I think we’re looking at something a tad more chaotic in nature.
Some new type of Chaos Knight weapon fits the bill. However, I’m also unsure of this Rumor Engine is large enough for something like a Knight or even a Chaos War Dog. Those hooks look too small.
Maybe it’s a weapon for a Chaos infantry unit — something like the Chaos Terminators? Or perhaps something with even less armor…
How cool with this be if it was a heavy weapon for a unit of Traitor Guard!? I don’t want to get my hopes up but man, that would be sick! Oh well. One can dream. Here’s where I kick this over to you. If you’ve got any theories as to what this could be drop us a line in the comments!
It couldn’t be a Salamander’s Flame weapon, could it?
