Wait, what? Oh right…it’s THAT day. Well, here’s a goofy idea from Games Workshop. This “Tactical Rock” is life-sized.

It’s April 1st which means you really shouldn’t believe the internet today. The jokes on them because I don’t believe what I read on the internet every day. Anyhow, GW has their annual joke product. And it’s kinda funny…

“The new Warhammer: Tactical Rock is the must-have gaming accessory for 2025. Made of hard-wearing real-scale composite, this elegant personal podium gives you the absolute best base from which to conduct your tabletop conquests.”

Warhammer: Tactical Rock

This is actually a great nod to the bases that Games Workshop makes for their miniatures. We all know the gag about the Tactical Rocks and skulls that many miniatures are posed on. Having a life-sized one is goofy and makes sense in that GW kind of way.

I do have some questions about this “product” as well. According to the WarCom article this thing weights 30kg/66lbs. That’s to make sure you’re base says in place and no one nudges it out of position. Fair enough. But I’m curious to know how much weight this things supports.

While this thing is a gag it actually did make me wonder if this idea has some merit. And actually, yes, it does. But not in terms of a pedestal you can carry around with you during your games. Actually, there’s a more useful item that really will help you out. An anti-fatigue mat:

ULINE Cashier Mat – 2′ x 3′

You might laugh but this is one gaming accessory that everyone could use. I had a friend bring a mat like this to a team tournament once. We used it on-and-off for all three rounds. My knees, legs, and lower back never felt better after and all day tournament. If chairs aren’t available a cushioned mat like this to stand on all day works WONDERS. So I’d say ditch the 30kg Tactical Rock and bring a kitchen or anti-fatigue mat to your next tournament.

A Warhammer Gaming Mat to stand on? Now that’s a product I might actually buy!
