Pathfinder’s ‘Guns & Gears Remastered’ Pocket Edition Puts Firepower In The Palm Of Your Hand

The Pocket Edition Guns & Gear Remastered for Pathfinder 2E might be small enough to carry easily, but it packs no less firepower.
Paizo announced a Guns & Gears Remastered Pocket Edition up for pre-order. If you’re unfamiliar with Pocket Editions, just imagine someone taking an existing book and then shrinking it down as though grabbing the corners. And you’ve got it.
Nothing is cut out, there’s no “streamlining,” though the pocket editions do often benefit from any errata or updates that have been made in the time between when the oceans drank Atlantis and the rise of the sons of Aryas book was last printed.
And Guns & Gears Remastered is a great addition to the Pocket series because G&G reopened the door to one of Pathfinder’s iconic classes/concepts – the Gunslinger. And all the accoutrements that go with it.
Guns & Gears Remastered – Pocket Edition
Guns & Gears Remastered throws the fan-favorite Gunslinger class into the “Remaster” grinder. That is, to say, it removes any last vestiges of the OGL rules from the mechanics. Not that there were too many with the Gunslinger in the first place. But with a tricorner hat, brace of pistols, and swords, it practically screams Pathfinder & Wayne Reynolds art.
“Unravel the secrets of clockworks with the new inventor class or blow away your opposition as a firearm-wielding gunslinger! In addition to new classes, a plethora of archetypes, backgrounds, vehicles, siege engines, gadgets, and the remastered automaton ancestry are all ready to expand your game with options for battlefields large and small.”
And in the Pocket Edition of G&G Remastered, you’ll get all the same stuff in the big book, just smaller and cheaper. A rare instance of the cost of something going down in these trying times. In case you don’t know, here’s what that looks like:
- Two new classes: the clever inventor and the sharpshooting gunslinger, updated to work perfectly with the Remastered Pathfinder Second Edition rules
- The remastered automaton ancestry for players who want to play a customizable construct
- Firearms of all stripes, from the simple and effective flintlock pistol to versatile gunblades
- Dozens of new archetypes
- Scores of new gadgets and vehicles
- Siege engines and accompanying rules
- A gazetteer of Golarion revealing how firearms and technology fit into the Age of Lost Omens, including a look at the technology of the continents of Arcadia and Tian Xia and never-before-revealed secrets of the rough-and-tumble, gritty city of Alkenstar
Sword and pistol remain a classic combo in Golarion or the grim darkness of the distant future!
