Shadowrun has a new book for its newest edition. Deadly Arts is the combat sourcebook for all things deadly in the Sixth World.

A new sourcebook for Shadowrun has hit the streets, chummers. And that means tons of new toys to play with, and not just new cyberware, new guns, new options for adepts, and so on. They are always discovering new ways to kill someone in the not-too distant dystopian future. But Shadowrun: Deadly Arts is a book all about advanced combat.

It boldly proclaims “Core Advanced Combat Rulebook” right on the cover, promising new ways to die and also, presumably, new ways to not die. This is a book not just for street samurai, but for anyone with a vested interest in violence in the Shadows of the Sixth World.

Shadowrun: Deadly Arts

“Combat is no stranger in the shadows; someone’s always working on new ways to eliminate their opponents. Maybe it’s the adept martial artist who’s pushing their body and power the breaking point Maybe it’s the local street samurai who just got some upgraded ’ware and is looking to settle some long-overdue scores. Maybe the mercenary just got a new gun, and their trigger finger is itching. Or the rigger is in control of one of the most advanced military vehicles on the planet, complete with bleeding-edge control systems and weapons.

Whatever the situation, there’s always a need for warriors to fight and die for a cause, or at least a paycheck. And they’ll need more than just the latest hardware—they’ll need to master the deadly art of combat itself. Otherwise, they’re just more cannon fodder.”

This is a book for both players & GMs. It has rules for advanced combat options that you can use in your firefights, as well as for “large scale combat operations” which is as close to “mass battles” as you’ll get. Personally, I want to see that cybernetic frame/vest thing with the extra guns on it. That looks cool – hopefully they don’t prematurely nerf it into the ground by making tons of multiattack penalties.

You can see it all for yourself on DriveThruRPG at the link below.

So which art do you think is deadliest? Painting? Calligraphy? Interpretive Dance?
