Warhammer 40K: Post-AdeptiCon Roadmap Shuffles Releases Around

We got a look at the Warhammer 40,000 “not a roadmap” from AdeptiCon. It’s time to chat about what’s coming to the tabletop.
It’s been a crazy week in the world for other reasons. But I wanted to talk about this topic while it was still (relatively) fresh on my mind. The Games Workshop Preview at AdeptiCon had loads of good info but what I wanted to focus on was the future releases for 40k.
Warhammer 40K – Coming “Now”
Coming up quick in the “now” section from Games Workshop are the next batch of Armies getting updates. We knew that the Chaos side of things were getting a massive update with those Cult Codexes coming. Thousand Sons, World Eaters, and Death Guard are all getting a new book as well as a new unit. This should help round them out and bring them in line with the Emperor’s Children who also just got released.
The Chaos stuff is cool but I think the biggest reveal by far was all the Space Wolves coming when they get their new codex. It’s an impressive amount of updates and a much welcomed one for the Sons of Russ.
The Space Wolves weren’t really announced in the previous LVO reveals — at least not like this. Seriously, here’s the old roadmap:
The Roadmap from LVO 2025
No where on that map are Space Wolves. I am not sure what happened to get them shuffled up in the rotation but I’m not upset about it! And as you can see, there’s some returning favorites that also got shuffled around. Speaking of…
Warhammer 40k – Coming Next
Coming later we have the Black Templars, Grey Knights, and the Chaos/Imperial Knights. Interestingly, Games Workshop only really showed off the Grey Knights which are getting an upgrade to their Dreadknight kit.
While that’s neat, I’m curious about the Black Templars and the other Knights, too. As we’ve seen before, GW is not afraid to shuffle things around either. I don’t know if we’re going to get a “big” release with this batch or not either. My guess is that these releases are going to be in the Summer leading into the Fall. That’s just based on the rate of releases thus far. We’ll have to see what GW has planned for this batch later.
Warhammer 4ok – On The Horizon
Once again, GW is trying to be coy with these “On The Horizon” releases. The thing is we pretty much know what all of these are. We can clearly see the Salamanders logo and the Imperial Fists as well. The only one that’s kind of a mystery is the middle one. That said, I’m pretty sure that’s a member of the Leagues of Votann.
The armor and tubing lines up too well. And they also need a new Codex for the current edition so that fits, too. Not much else to say about this section.
The Future?
Once again we have a silhouette. I don’t really have a clue as to what this could be. Perhaps it’s a Space Marine or one of the Leagues of Votann guys in armor. Clearly that’s a helmet and a power pack which is why I think it could be a marine…but we’ll have to wait and see!
Overall the previews from AdeptiCon were good news. The Space Wolves got the biggest reveals of the 40k batch. Obviously Kill Team was a big deal as were all the Old World reveals. That said I was kind of hoping for more. Knowing that the Chaos Codexes are coming and are basically getting one character each is a little bit of a bummer. Then again, the real magic for those books will be in the rules which did sound promising!
The shuffling up of releases was unexpected. But again, I’m not mad about that either. If nothing else it was a nice curveball that kept things interesting. I really hope the next batch of releases have some awe-inspiring kits coming. And let’s hope we get them all sooner rather than later…
Were you surprised at the 40k release shuffle from AdeptiCon 2025?
