There’s a new wave of the Emperor’s Children on the way to Warhammer 40,000 and we’ve got them in the studio and up close!

While the first wave was the Army Set this weekend marks the pre-order release for the majority of the Emperor’s Children. Games Workshop sent us a few previews and our very own Goatboy got to dive into them. Let’s take a closer look at these miniatures together!

Lucius The Eternal

This was one of the miniatures I was more excited about seeing personally. I really like this re-imagining of Lucius as he seems much more dynamic and action-posed than his pervious iteration. Much of that has to do with the advances in miniature technology I’m sure. The whip looks like it’s in motion and he’s got that look of “I’m calling you out to duel” which seems appropriate! I can’t wait to see what the community does with this miniature.

Lord Kakophonist

The Kakophnonist looks like how I was expecting him to look. I’ll be brutally honest though — I’m not really a fan of this one. I’m sure he’s going to be extremely useful for large packs of Noise Marines. But to me that’s the only draw I have to this one. I don’t really care for the back-pack organ. It’s really just that feature. The rest of the miniature I don’t hate by any means. I think he hits in with the aesthetic of the army in general. But that back pack is just a tad too cartoony for me.

These miniatures are interesting to me as they have that “duelist” style. It’s obvious they are sure of themselves because of the exposed skin they have. I also think they fit in to the themes of the army as they have the elongated features of Slaanesh followers, too. I think this unit is okay looking but they aren’t my cup of tea.

Fulgrim, Daemon Primarch of Slaanesh

It’s the big boss himself. I know lots of folks have expressed mixed feeling about this version of Fulgrim but I like it quite a bit. He’s very snake-like as his motion is very coiled up. That seems quite fitting for him. I also appreciate how much easier it will be to move this version around vs the Forge World version with the massive wings. Plus this one is plastic which I’m a much bigger fan of as well.

This Fulgrim is oozing with Slaaneshy details and he’s the epitome of the Emperor’s Children. I really think the painters and hobbyists out there are going to have a field day with this miniature!
