Goatboy’s 40K: Deepstrike-o-rama
Goatboy here with a handful of lists pushing deepstriking craziness with the new 40K books just out.
Goatboy here again and today I want to go over some dumb list ideas I have trying to utilize some of the new formations/rules/etc we got from the new books. Most of them are trying to utilize the deep strike and assault options we have now. I think those abilities are going to put the most hurt on our Eldar friends as they are always having issues with any massed deep strike armies. It doesn’t help that Jetbikes, while fast, do not like drop pods coming down, taking their candy and calling them jerks. A few of these ideas came from talking with buddies online and figuring how best to utilize some “bad armies”.
Death Watch Craziness
First – will start out with an all good guy list that utilizes an old Army force org mixed with the new Death Watch army. I think this could come in so hard on some armies that it might put them on the back foot. I think it could even survive some of the interceptor stuff from that Tau lists and force them to jump back with a bloody set of nose holes as the Silver and Black armored guys come in on fire.
Death Watch CAD / GK Nemesis Strike Force X 2
DW CAD
Librarian, Lvl 2, Force Axe, The Beacon Angelis
Death Watch Veterans X 5, SS X 5, Drop Pod

Nemesis Strike Force

Dreadknight, Daemon Hammer, Heavy Incinerator, Personal Teleporter
Dreadknight, Daemon Hammer, Heavy Incinerator, Personal Teleporter
Nemesis Strike Force
GK Librarian, Lvl 3, Force Halberd
Strike Force X 5
Dreadknight, Heavy Psilincer, Heavy Psycannon
The idea is pretty simple – drop the Librarian the Beacon – drop everyone around him and have the GK librarians within 2 inches of the Veteran squad with 5 SS. Your plan is to have them join up – do some sanctuary and throw out some Cleansing Flames, Vortex or two, or whatever other combos you might find. The 2 Teleporting Dreadknights there to get involved and punch things and then you have a “gun boat” Dreadknight left to drop behind, shoot things, and maybe get lucky with a force bullet or two. It doesn’t have a ton of bodies but at the very least the DW are objective secured. The Frag Cannons are there as your all around problem solvers as well.
Traitor’s Hate Craziness
Next up we have a dumb idea that utilizes the Raptor Talon from the new Traitors Hate book. I think the formation is pretty dang good and if wasn’t for other Chaos stuff being a bit better we would see it more often. Still this dumb thought could work out pretty well and looks like some of the old “daemon bomb” armies we saw back in the day.

Screamers of Tzeentch X 7
The idea is pretty simple – get some Cursed Earth off – drop some Warp Talons to blind people, profit. The random Chaos Lord is there to get things moving. If I could make him a daemon with the Crimson Slaughter item it might be worth it – but it seems there is some issues doing that. Still it would be pretty dang sweet to come screaming out of the sky with so many bad units. The Heralds can summon and do other dumb stuff to allow yourself to have more things to win you the game. I am not sure if going so heavy on Raptors is worth it – but it feels like it might just be right. Plus you can make a cool Nurgle fly lord who comes down and eats a unit.
Blood Angel Craziness (one)
Next up I wonder if the new Blood Angel stuff might work out. There is enough assault bits to let you come in hot and force some death onto the battle field. Too bad you need to find a way to start something on the table or hide things – but I think there are ways to do it.
Golden Host Formation (2-5 Sanguinary Guard, Dante or Sanguinor – assault out of deep strike disorderly starting on turn 2)
Sanguinor
Sanguinary Guard X 5, Axe X 2, Powerfist
Sanguinary Guard X 5, Axe X 2

Librarian, Force Axe, The Beacon Angelis, Auspex
Death Watch Veterans X 5, Frag Cannon X 2, Drop Pod
Death Watch Veterans X 5, Frag Cannon X 2, Drop Pod
Aegis Defense Line, Comm Relay
This one is pretty simple too – it drops in dreads to hopefully survive with a pod or a dread by the Comms relay. This means everyone else can come in and utilize the Beacon to not scatter or just get involved into combat as needed.
Blood Angel Craziness (two)
This does lead me into the next idea – how many assault out of deep strike units can we get shoved into an army.
Of course it all has to be jump packs – because using anything else is for people not into the cause. Will again limit it to 3 sources because I only really play ITC missions and games most of the time. Some of these are repeats from up above but this is a theme and we are sticking too it.

Assault Squad X 5, Jump Packs, Meltabomb
Devastator Squad X 5, Cherub, Heavy Bolters X 4, Drop Pod
Devastator Squad X 5, Cherub, Multi-melta X 4, Drop Pod
Basically you hide the scouts, make everything come down on turn 2, and then profit by stealing all their under pants. Man this looks so goofy but it would be so much dang fun. Things coming out of the sky, cool guys on jump packs, and Dante doing what Dante does. Come down and probably die to massed bolters. Plus – it is a good deal of bodies all over the places with weapons to hurt just about anything. I left one Meltabomb in each unit to per the new FAQ.
That is it for now – next week I hope to get into more 40k break downs as I look at the new top dogs for the upcoming season. Fun times ahead and I am just excited to see new things and big list shake ups as new stuff starts to come out.
