Tabletop Spotlight: New York Slice
Who doesn’t like Pizza!? New York Slice is all about this wonderful pie and building your own perfect pizza!
The Tabletop Spotlight is on New York Slice – a game about cutting up the perfect slices of pizza. Our friends at Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy brought it over and shared it with the rest of the class:
The idea is pretty simple: You’re a pizza chef and you’re working to create the ultimate pizza pie. However, the competition is trying to do the same and they have their eyes on your prize! Players take turns slicing up pizzas with one catch – your opponents have the first crack on the slices and you get the leftovers. Each slice is scored and the player with the most points at the end wins. However, to spice things up, there are also daily specials that have to be passed out. These can change the value of your slices and help to keep pizzas from “going stale” – and can even reward you for those devious anchovies!
Gameplay aside, the components are really well done. Everything is photo realistic – including the bottom of the pizzas! The score sheets are “Guest Checks” which is a nice touch. The instructions actually come in the form of a menu and to top it all off the box is even designed like a pizza box! Clearly someone put a lot of care in crafting the little things that come with this game and it shows!
Overall, New York Slice is a fun looking game for players of all ages (+8) and supports 2-6 players. It’s perfect for your next family game night. So if you’re looking for something simple and fun bust this one out and enjoy a slice of pizza!
