Forge World has a new Thunderhawk coming soon – come see the new bird on the way!

via Warhammer Community

We’ve had a lot of questions over the last few weeks, since our venerable Thunderhawk gunship sold out online.

We can now announce that the Forge World studio are nearing completion on a brand new updated version.

Pre-production model – there may be some slight differences in the final model.

This new resin Thunderhawk keeps the iconic and uncompromising outline of the Thunderhawk we all know and love, but also takes on a few design cues from other recent kits, like the Stormbird and Heresy-era Space Marine Legion tanks.

In fact, we’re hoping to have it available first at Warhammer Fest this May.

Did you catch it? Well here it is one more time:

“…new resin Thunderhawk…”

Sorry folks, it’s still resin. We had hints that a new version was coming. The Preview of Inferno hinted at it. We even had a pretty good analysis of the differences. Then we had GW teasing us with a brown box labeled “Plastic Thunderhawk.” Then there was one Rumormonger Extraordinaire who dropped this tidbit:

“Yes it’s coming, as everyone can clearly now see the final resin TH has been sold, the plastic one has quite a few options as I understand it, and should come in around 25-30% of the cost of the resin one…. or at least that’s the last I heard. I seem to recall a figure of either £125 or £135…”

We all had our hopes up on this one. And we know what the Grim-Dark has to say about hopes:

“Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.”

But, looking at the new kit, it’s easy to see that there are some improvements over the old version. We still don’t have a price point either – so there is some hope that with the new technology and casting the price might actually drop… But, uh, don’t get your hopes up.

I like the new kit…I’d like it more if it was plastic.
