Adeptus Titanicus: Unboxing The Reaver Battle Titan
In the Heresy Era, the Reaver Battle Titan was the most common god-machine on the battlefield. Now it’s coming to the tabletop and we’ve got a look inside the box at exactly what you’re getting!
With the arrival of the Reaver Battle Titan this weekend, Adeptus Titanicus is getting one more piece needed to really make the game feel whole. As I’ve stated before, the Reaver and the Warhound can’t come soon enough because they fill very different and very vital battlefield roles in Adeptus Titanicus. And now we’ve got a look at the Reaver up close:
The Reaver Battle Titan box comes with 3 sprues, instructions and a water-slide transfer sheet. That’s to be expected and again, GW’s designers really did put these sprues together with the fans in mind.
While you need each sprue to build a functioning Titan, the bits are divided among the three sprues in a logical manner. All the weapons are on one sprue, just like the armored carapace or the “skeleton” of the Titan.
Now, I’m not saying that there WILL be a Chaos Titan sprue or a weapon only accessory sprue – but c’mon, Games Workshop can totally do that for the game and have a brand new set of unit options by swapping those out. There is very little overlap within these sprues and that’s why they are so great.
I’d love to see the armor carapace get a “chaosified” version at some point but I’m not running things at GW. For now, I’ll stick with the new Reaver and be happy. I’m already planning out my maniple, paint scheme, and getting some learning games in. From the learning games I can certainly see how much the Reaver is going to add to the game on a tactical level right now. Having the Warlords square off is cool and all – but really you’re just trying to blast each other from range right now. There isn’t a reason to maneuver unless it’s to get a better angle.
Yes, Knights certainly help and they are totally needed to round out the game, but the Reaver provides enough firepower and speed to help round out the extremes. I think the Warhound will do the same when it arrives later.
The new Reaver Battle Titan is coming this weekend and Adeptus Titanicus will be a better game for it!
Adeptus Titanicus Reaver Battle Titan $60
A gargantuan war machine, the Reaver Titan is one of the most common and destructive classes of Battle Titan. Armed with devastating weapons and able to crush enemies under its tread by the score, the ground shakes as the Reaver advances and the enemy is left with a choice: flee or die. Reavers are the heart of the Titan Legions, holding the line or leading the charge as their Princeps demand.
This multi-part plastic kit contains the components necessary to assemble a Reaver Battle Titan for use in games of Adeptus Titanicus. Particularly aggressive-looking, even compared to its contemporaries, this highly-detailed Titan is easily recognised by its flattened face profile and angular carapace. It comes armed with several weapon options – a laser blaster and gatling blaster are available, with a power fist that can be modelled either clenched or open. Above the carapace – of which 2 are included, 1 blank – resides an apocalypse missile launcher, either side of which are the shoulder pads (3 sets are included, 1 set loyalist, 1 set traitor and 1 set blank.) Further modelling options include the knee pads – 2 of these are blank, with 1 depicting the symbol of the Opus Titanicus.
This kit comes as 122 components, and is supplied with a Citadel 105mm Oval base along with a decal sheet – this features heraldry for the following Legios: Gryphonicus, Fureans, Astorium, Atarus, and Mortis.
