Let’s take a look at some Imperial armored lists. These two armies are all about the heavy metal.

Legion has gotten a bunch of recent releases upping the power of both its current factions.  One of the upcoming releases I’m looking forward to most is for the Occupier Tank.  This beast promises to give the Empire some new armored might as well as being the first real transport the game has. Let’s take a look at a couple of lists using it.

Driving Tanks

This list is designed around using an armored punch to take out the enemy as quickly as possible. The two TX-225s can deliver a ton of firepower at a target. They are very tough nuts to crack in return and can shrug off many attacks. Three squads of Speeder Bikes plays into the mechanized theme of the list. They help make up for the slow speed of the tanks and let you put a large force of deadly models anywhere you’d like. They can easily rush around and flank the enemy. Combined they put out a crazy amount of firepower and if they focus on a target with the two tanks they are almost certain to kill it.

In order to get a bunch of tanks and speeders in the list, we did have to cut some corners. Rather than a named leader we’ve gone with the generic Imperial Officer. Not only is she cheap, but I kind of like the idea of this army being a generic formation. She isn’t useless in the list either. Her Spotter 1 ability can be used to give one of the TX-225s an aim token, which is nice. Even better, her Pinned Down command card was made for a list like this. I’ve given her Esteemed Leader in the hopes of keeping her around a bit longer.

Rounding out the army we’ve got three basic squads of Stormtroopers. Another cost we had to cut was on upgrades for our infantry. Ultimately these guys are there to get objectives, not kills. With three squads you can keep one behind to hold objectives and have the other two ride in TX-225s for extra protection. Overall I think this list carries a lot of firepower and is very flexible – with both slow and fast moving elements.

Crush Your Foes

The idea for this list is to try to take a few older Imperial staples and revitalize them with the newer units. The big one is the AT-ST.  This is an absolute terror and my favorite Legion model, but she doesn’t get a lot of play. Between the new First Sergeant Arbmab and Veers and my command cards, I can throw up to 3 aim tokens on it for free. That’s going to make its already deadly cannons super accurate. At the same time the TX-225, with old Wiess in it, can throw out another very heavy attack to pin down or destroy enemy units.

I’ve got a power squad of Royal Guards with the intention for them to be able to ride in the TX-225 for extra protection and then get into melee with the enemy wreaking havoc. We’ll see how that goes.

Lastly, my infantry squads carry a few heavy weapons but most importantly they’ve got astromechs to help keep my vehicles going. While they can be used to repair my vehicles if they are damaged the most crucial role is pulling off Ion tokens. Well used Ion can completely shut down my expensive AT-ST or my TX-225, if I can counter Ion I’ve got a better chance of keeping the big guys running and winning the game.

Let us know what you think of the lists, down in the comments!
