Goatboy here – I chatted about my updated Chaos Knights for ITC. Let’s go over my two no holds barred army lists.

The next event I am for sure going to is SoCal – which of course is an ITC event.  It means I need to think of my armies in that format, which normally means I don’t have to worry about no dang troops if I want to play Knights.  I’ve got two lists – one is pure Chaos Knights (Go for #1  Chaos Knight player!), and the other is a mix.  Part of me wants to play it pure, but that is a 4-1 list for sure bar some lucky matchups.  Still, it would be fun and easy to not have to remember to cast spells.

DOOR NUMBER 1: Pure Chaos Knights

Let’s go with the pure Knight one.  The FW update gave Chaos Knights a wonderful little tool in the War Dog Moirax unit.  It has probably one of the most useful units because it can give you the extra shooting you need to hurt hordes.  Mix it with Infernal, and you have a neat two damage gun even though you are losing most likely too many wounds.  Still, it is something to think about. I know the model isn’t out yet, but I was going to use the Decimator Storm Laser arm as a conversion to throw on my heavily Chaos Armigers.  The final piece is the Castigator from FW.  That 16 shot gun, extra wounds, and faster movement means an Infernal option might not be too bad.  I know I love the Iconoclast, but think you can get away with it on that gun alone.  Plus, you just give him the Knight Diabolus Warlord trait and let him get a bit nutty.  Throw Dreadblade on him, and you have a very mean little knight as well.

Total – 1979 CP +12

Tactics

The basic idea would be to use the Dreadblade choices to either eliminate the -1 AP options or have a ton of reroll to hit as needed.  From there I could get another Dreadblade if I wanted too or look towards the Khornate relic for tough invulnerable units, get the no modifiers to hit helmet, or even try to pull some anti psychic options with the Tzeentch relic plus a quick warlord trait.  The big crazy thing is having a chance at having three models with Reroll to hit versus Titanic or Characters.

DOOR NUMBER 2: Soupy Chaos Knights

The next list is the other thought, which is based on what a buddy played at a tournament this past weekend.  He went with Flawless host, while I just love the Red Corsairs.  Sadly, I think going Alpha Legion on the Lord Discordant front is probably for the best – but all my guys are red so enh.  I call this – Plethora of Threats army.

Chaos Knight Despoiler – Thermal Cannon X 2, Heavy Stubber, Ironstorm Missile Pod – 413pts

Total – 1995 CP +18

Tactics

This one has a ton of CP and lots of random options I could do.  I could make the Red Corsairs a Soulforged Pack if I wanted to.  I could get extra relics if I needed too as well.  Plus it has Ahriman, and you know how good he can be in most matchups.  I really wish I could look at the Battle Cannon one – dropping a ton of options and just going with Ahriman by himself would lose a CP and his special +6 to spell option.  I don’t know if that is worth it.  I could go Alpha Legion on all my Chaos stuff, swap to cultists, and call it a day as well.  Lots of thoughts on this one, but it is the initial idea.

Help Me Choose!

I feel the all Chaos Knight one would let me have a chance to get pure Chaos Knights for ITC so it might be where I go.  I can’t expect to win without the time to practice so just playing a ton of big stompy monsters might be for the best.
