REVIEW: Black Crusade by FFG
Fantasy Flight Games has a nice new Warhammer 40000 RPG that lets you indulge your darkside – Black Crusade.
Black Crusade is the fourth and latest RPG for the Warhammer 40k universe, coming on the heels of Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader, and Deathwatch. It lets you form a party of Chaos worshipers, and play anything from an a Marine, to a Dark Mechanicus, to a Rogue Psyker.
What I really liked about Black Crusade was its return to the Old “Realms of Chaos” emphasis on the twisting path of chaos that leads inevitably to either Daemonhood, or Spawndom. Its a nice encapsulating shell for you adventures that a Gamemaster can use to both keep you adventures moving along, and deal cleanly with players moving in and out of your play group, or characters who have just gotten too powerful.
The other section I was very impressed with is the cross RPG rules that allow you to now fully blend aspects of the four 40k RPGs. So you can get into interactions with the Inquisition, meet up with the Deathwatch, or even get your band of renegades their own ship and head to the stars.
