Warhammer 40K: Beyond The Veil – More Details Emerge
Beyond the Veil is the First Crusade Expansion for Warhammer 40,000. So what exactly is it and what will it mean for playing Crusade Games?
Games Workshop is getting ready to drop a new type of Expansion on Warhammer 40k with Beyond the Veil. This expansion will include a new mission pack book – but what’s included? Now we have more info thanks to GW.
“In addition to 24 brand-new Crusade missions (six for each size of game), the 112-page book provides new Agendas, Battle Traits, and Relics of the Nexus, as well as high-level background information on the Pariah Nexus and more besides. Whether you’re a fan of Crusade or just enjoy reading all about the ever-evolving background of Warhammer 40,000, make sure you pre-order your copy next weekend. “
- 24 brand-new Crusade missions
- 112-page book
- New Agendas, Battle Traits, and Relics of the Nexus
- High-level lore about the Pariah Nexus
Things are certainly going to be heating up in the Pariah Nexus with this next expansion. I’m not quite sure how that’s going to work considering the zone is basically a giant area of Warp suppression. It also has a strange impact on the human psyche and emotions. Entire ships have fallen prey to it’s aura of eerie malaise.
What is the cause of these strange phenomena? Necrons of course! The lack of Warp Travel and communication sets-up a dangerous path for those who venture forth in the the Pariah Nexus. While new relics and wargear await, you can bet the Battle Scars for failure are going to be brutal. Will your army be able to survive and thrive or will they struggle to keep it together Beyond the Veil?
The First Crusade Expansion
Beyond the Veil will be the first Crusade Expansion and it’s going to set the framework for what’s those expansions could look like in the future. Crusade itself is a great way to play and build a new army. It’s a fantastic tool to use if you want to play in a league or with a group. Abe has covered it’s benefits in more detail – but it really is a fun way to create an army and have it’s own story come to life.
I’m very curious to see how GW has taken this opportunity to expand the Crusade play style and also how the book will tailor it’s missions and theme to this particular battlezone. There are a couple other Battlezones I’d like to see get the same treatment in the future with many of them being featured in the previous Psychic Awakening books.
The Baal Sector in particular seems like a very interesting Battlezone…
Games Workshop has experimented with these types of Battlezone books in the past but this one is the first that will also explore Crusade as a play-style and I’m looking forward to giving it a go!
