Age of Sigmar: Broken Realms Morathi Overview
We’ve got the Broken Realms Morathi book and we’re taking a closer look inside the covers.
The next chapter it the Age of Sigmar Saga is here. This one has more plot twists than Morathi’s serpentine figure!
The Plot Thickens
For kicking off the next chapter in the Age of Sigmar Saga, this one has quite a few threads laid out. Now, I’m not going to cover them all here as I will attempt to avoid major spoilers, but you can get read on them right HERE.
Let’s just say that the status quo is getting shaken. We are going to see some repercussions from this event throughout the rest of the Mortal Realms. It’s actually a good 60 pages of lore so it’s totally worth a read for all you lore junkies out there.
Aside from all that juicy lore, this book has a TON of new rules and updates. For starters, the Daughter of Khaine have a new allegiance and some updates to their rules. We did a round-up of updates from Shadow & Pain, the accompanying boxed set for this book. It sure seems like GW was looking for a way to give the DoK some needed updates as they have one of the older battletomes at this point.
We’ve also covered how Morathi’s rules changed as well. Just know that’s she’s double the trouble and very much ready to party. Aside from the new allegiance and rules, this book also has a ton of new battalions for all the armies invovled. If you play DoK, Cities of Sigmar, Stormcast Eternals, Idoneth Deepkin or Chaos then you’re going to want to check out the battalions offered.
The Stormcast Eternals have a new Stormkeep set of battalions that seems interesting. I think they would really shine in a campaign personally. Why? Well, the Stormkeep battalions are representations of how the Stormcast Eternals would garrison a fortification. I think it’s actually a neat twist on the army. They have been the aggressors for so long in the Mortal Realms that this is a different aspect of the Stormcasts.
I also want to give a shout out the Idoneth Deepkin a well. Their Allopexes, Mathlanns, and Leviadons all got reworks as well and most of it is all improvements to make them more deadly.
In particular the way the Leviadon’s bite attack has been tweaked. It used to just be a single attack. Now it’s 2. It also has the potential to cause more damage to larger targets so it’s not only better against monsters, it’s also no longer an “all or nothing” type of bite. There are lots of other tweaks across the board for these units and the new Mount Traits provide even more options.
Broken Realms Morathi also has a points for everything included – so there are going to be some subtle tweaks and changes to the armies involved in that regard. It’s going to be in stores this weekend so you’ll be able to pick-up a copy for yourself then.
Morathi, High Oracle of Khaine, sets her sights upon the greatest prize of all – the power of a goddess! As furious war consumes the Mortal Realms, the shadow-wreathed empire of Hagg Nar makes its ambitious play for power. The cruel and boundlessly cunning Morathi, ruler of the Daughters of Khaine, desires to claim her rightful place as a goddess – but to do so she must sacrifice her past, forge bitter new foes, and spill the blood of rivals and allies alike!
The Mortal Realms will never be the same again. In Broken Realms: Morathi, a new era begins for Warhammer Age of Sigmar, bringing with it seismic shifts in the status quo, epic stories, and new rules for your army however you prefer to play.
