The newest expansion for Vermintide 2 is around the corner, and it promises a rogue-lite experience for the co-op shooter.

Vermintide 2’s new expansion, Chaos Wastes, is due out officially on April 20th, which is next Tuesday.  This is a free update for Vermintide 2 that adds an exciting new dynamic to the game, blending rouge-lite elements and an unpredictable new path to adventurers seeking out the Citadel of Eternity. Check out the trailer below.

Coming April 20 to PC. Chaos Wastes is a free update to Warhammer: Vermintide 2. Explore the unpredictable and dramatic lands of Chaos Wastes in this all-new 1-4 player co-op rogue-lite experience, expanding the Vermintide story in a new game mode.

What does all of that mean? Let’s take a brief look at the new game mode. You’ll start by heading out on expeditions that take you to the new areas introduced in the expansion–with 15 new arenas to fight your way through, you’ll be rewarded with Pilgrim Coins which can be collected from downed bosses and supply chests. They can be spent on Altars for improvements to your gear and skills making each run a different experience.

As well as the Altars, each level completed offers up a boon or miracle, as well as special enhancements that will power you up for your final attempt at the Citadel of Eternity. There’s a lot to look forward to with this update–from Beastmen to Skavens and more. No two expeditions are the same. So you’ll need your best team by your side to tackle the toughest challenges that lie in wait at the heart of the Chaos Wastes.

Good luck out there, heroes. Be careful, Chaos is stronger than you think.
