A Necron, Space Marine, and Ad Mech Combat Patrol walked into the Game Store – stop me if you’ve heard this one before.

Alright folk, we’ve got three new Combat Patrol boxes coming this weekend for Pre-order. Are they going to be worth the price of admission? Each one clocks in at $140 USD – so let’s break these down and find out.

Necrons Combat Patrol Box $140

Necron Overlord $28

Necron Immortals $38

Doom Scythe $60

Tomb Blades $49

Individual MSRP Total: $175

Savings: $35

Overall, this isn’t a bad box for Necrons. There are some useful units included and you should be able to find a use for just about everything inside the box in most Necron armies. Considering the Immortals can be built as Deathmarks and the Doom Scythe can be a Night Scythe, you’ve got options. Tomb Blades are also great objective grabbers because they are so fast! They might just surprise you. Value-wise, it’s not quite as much of a deal as some of the other Combat Patrol boxes but, again, I think this box as some great utility.

Space Marine Combat Patrol $140

Lieutenant in Phobos Armor $35 (based on Lt. in Reiver Armour)

Infiltrators $60

Primaris Impulsor $75

Eliminators $50

Suppressors $50 (based on Eliminators Box)

Individual MSRP Total – $270

Savings – $130

Whoa! This *seems* like a crazy good deal! What’s up with this set and why is almost a 50% off deal? Well, that’s because this is essentially the current Start Collecting! Vanguard Space Marines box…but with an Impulsor added.

And, if you didn’t know, this box has custom sprues because it was a rebox of Shadowspear box. So in really, if you wanted to be a tad more accurate for the pricing it really should be this:

Start Collecting! Vanguard Space Marines $95

Primaris Impulsor $75

Individual MSRP Total: $170

Total Savings: $30

Suddenly this pricing is making way more sense, isn’t it? By the way, this is still a really good starter option for a new Space Marine army – but only if you want to run a ‘Vanguard’ style list. It’s also the only place to get a few of these models currently.

Adeptus Mechanicus $140

Techpriest Enginseer = $33

Skitarii Rangers/Vanguard x10 = $44

Kataphron Breachers/Destroyers x3 = $58

Onager Dunecrawler = $75

MSRP Total = $210

Savings = $70

We did this breakdown already. That said, it’s actually the best of this batch in value. It’s a solid starter option for an Ad Mech army as well.
