D&D Accessories: Backpacks

Unless you’re hosting sessions or you like carrying all of your D&D necesities to games in a pile, you’ll need some sort of bag to carry everything in.

If you’re not the forever host of your group’s tabletop gaming sessions, a quality bag is one of the most important accessories you could have. Between sheets, reference books, and your giant bag of dice, you’ll need something sturdy and reliable to get everything from one place to another and back again. And it wouldn’t hurt if this bag was cute, too. As always, links to shops are in the item titles.

Heroes and Villains Ready to Roll Backpack

Heroes and Villains is one of those companies that makes a completely official product that’s also really really good to use. Heavyweight nylon and leather make up this backpack so you can fill it to capacity without worry, and a padded laptop pocket, mini-vault, adjustable dividers, and snap out dice tray mean that you’ll be the most organized person at the table once you get there. Plus the chord embellishment on the front looks like a simplistic D20 design, going perfectly with the two D&D patches. As far as backpacks go, this is definitely one of the pricier options, but it more than justifies the price in quality and features.

Backpack of Holding

If you’d prefer a bag that’s a little more subtle while not giving up strength or storage capacity, the Backpack of Holding is a powerhouse of tabletop game storage and transportation. Boasting the ability to hold multiple binders, dice, pens, and all of your rulebooks (user reviews show this bag holding ten to twelve D&D books without issue), this could easily be the only bag you ever need for game sessions ever again. Multiple outside pockets keep all of your various accessories organized and secure while the main pocket is even bigger inside than it seems, just like its namesake.

Gelatinous Cube Backpack

Not every player is traveling with every single rulebook. Some players head to the table with a tablet and a dice bag and don’t need their D&D bag to be particularly huge or high capacity. For those players, one of the very cute Redbubble offerings would be perfect, and I’m partial to this very fun Gelatinous Cube design. Not every adventure will go well for everyone, sometimes the Gelatinous Cube globs onto your wizard and this bag is a sort of tongue in cheek reminder of that. Also, the Gelatinous cube is one of the most iconic and silly monsters in the manual, who doesn’t enjoy seeing it on more merch?

This backpack is gorgeous, plain and simple. Functional as your gaming bag or a renn-faire costume piece, it can hold your books, scrolls, knapsack, and whatever else you’ll need to take on your next big adventure. Both the outer and lining materials are 100% cotton with horn button embellishments, so you know it will hold up to whatever dungeon you’re crawling through, and with a verity of colors you can have an adventuring bag that matches your – or your character’s – style.

This Is How I Roll Drawstring Backpack

Sometimes we forget about the simple drawstring backpacks. They’re not always that exciting and don’t come with quite as many feature or special pockets, but what they lack in wow factors they more than make up for in functionality, prices, and storageability. I use these kinds of bags for everything from low-key game sessions to gym bags to lazy day purses, and if you’re looking to take your stuff from point A to point B with no muss or fuss, you can’t go wrong.

How do you take your D&D playing tool back and forth from sessions? Will any of our backpack picks make it onto your wishlist? Do you prefer a bag with lots of options and pockets, or something super simple and easy? Let us know in the comments!

Happy Adventuring!
